On the day I tried on the wedding dresses, Lucien was at a meeting abroad. It was Lauren who kept me company. My scarred arms limited me to three long-sleeve dresses, and I chose the second one. Upon leaving, I ran into Colin and Joyce at the bridal shop. Colin's tone was brusque. "What are you doing here?" “Here.” I stare at the article which seems to be about Brighton as a great day out, but the page is dominated by a picture of Bread & Cake and in a boxed section is a glowing five-star review of the shop. I actually start to feel a little faint at the sight of the words which rave on about our artisan loaves of bread, the cakes and even the art on the walls of the café. “Wow,” I whisper. “This is amazing. To get a write-up like this…I mean…” I am speechless. An article like this is worth its weight in gold. We are already doing so well just from word-of-mouth and the local press, but this is out of this world.

It was still untouched by me. I rolled my shoulders as I pierced into my salmon. “I’ve never been a fan of raw food,” I said, then felt the need to apologize immediately. “I’m sorry.” Blaze let out an easy laugh. He reached for the tray and pulled it toward him. “What are you sorry for this time, my Angel?” Blaze asked. A little dimple appeared on his cheek and vanished just as quickly. I could still see it though if I looked hard enough. “I know it cost a fortune to get this place.” As I spoke, I looked around for what felt like the hundredth time.
