There was no dishwasher or top cabinets, just rows of lovely shelves filled high with plates, bowls, glasses, and another assorted crockery. A lady stood at the sink, washing dishes. Her brown hair was tied back into a tight bun at the back of her head. She was dressed in an out-of-date gown. The hem was several inches below her knees and was a pale blue. She wore a white apron with ruffled borders and a tight tie around her waist over it. Her tight shoulders and set line of her jaw betrayed her disapproval and fury.

"We need s‍up‍pli‌es. Go to the dollar store⁠. Buy⁠ bleach. Lots of bleac​h. Scrubbing‍ brushe​s. An‌d pla‌stic‍ shee​ts." "P⁠la⁠st‍ic​ sheets? Are we killing so⁠meone?" She also saw Soheila put it on and wrapped it our her waist. Soheila looked at her after putting it on. “Oh, this? It's an apron. Here have one, too. It won't make our clothes dirty if we cook.” Soheila took out another apron from her spirit ring that has the same design as hers. “This is an apron? It is different from what I often see." Sirene said while she's wearing the apron that Soheila gave.

I suggested, though I’d never actually used it myself. "I had one somewhere here," I added, moving over to a cupboard. I found it when I moved in—most likely left by the previous tenant. "Ah, here it is!" I said cheerfully, pulling out the pink apron adorned with red peonies, a piece that could only be described as... questionable.

Every second that ticks by is another chance for someone to walk in, to see this nightmare. I stumble toward the kitchen, my legs unsteady, the pain in my head a constant drumbeat. The linoleum is cold under my bare feet, and I brace myself against the counter, my breath coming in short, sharp gasps. I need to clean this up little by little before they arrive, at least enough to buy time until he and his crew arrive. It’s pink and has a cartoon muffin stitched in the middle. He puts it on without comment, tying it over his black workout shirt and too-big muscles. The sight does something to me that I don’t want to unpack.

The patches looked like Celtic knot work. Jayems also wore a torque around his neck.

But suddenly she saw Sean's feet, which were now in front of Hera's feet. Sean smiled. They were very close now. Somehow he liked Hera when she apologized to him. "So, you're going to cook, right?" Sean asked, holding something. Hera knew what it was. It was an apron. "You have to wear this. To protect your body," Sean said as he handed it to Hera. Oh, of course, she accepted it gladly without much thought. "Oh, thank you. But, actually, I don't need this apron. Besides, I'm only going to-"
