My eyes flicked up from the book in front of me to glare at the small window next to me, where there were two birds perched on a branch outside looking as if they were ready to take flight at any moment. The moon was shining brightly overhead, but the sky appeared cloudless. And not just that - when I looked down at the book I could see it glowing dimly with some kind of weird glow. There was no light reflecting off of it whatsoever. The glow looked almost magical, and my breath hitched in my throat. It felt almost like magic - maybe I was seeing things but what was worse my wolf growling and snarling inside of me , telling me that something was very, very wrong.

She let out a series of melodic, mournful chirps—the language of the birds. A moment later, a massive snowy owl flew through the window, landing on the sill. It didn't look afraid. It looked... urgent. Caelum stood beside his sister, his hand glowing with a soft emerald light as he touched the owl’s wing.

*Thunk* a book collided with my head nearly knocking me out of the tree I was perched in. I grabbed onto a branch, shaking the changing leaves loose. He asked in confusion. "Owls," I told him and laughed. "You do know what an owl is, right?" "A bird?" He asked. "It's a type of nocturnal bird that hunts small rodents," I purred to him. "The young glide in the tree branches to learn to fly. It's easier to do because it happens in small bursts and you can learn to master your wings." He looked at me in awe. I laughed a little. "Would you like to try that?" He looked up at me as he fluttered his wings, coping mine.

I drew the curtain in vain because the entire room reminded me of him, but at least nothing in that room brought old memories to life again. Right then, there was a soft knock on the window glass. I frowned as I cautiously slid the curtain by an inch to see what made that sound. On the snow of the window sill perched a snowy white owl, gazing at me with its large yellow eyes. It tapped on the window again with one of its claws, and my heart skidded. In my chest. That’s something I taught Snow White to do. I instantly opened the window, and the owl flew to me, almost crashing against me. I wrapped my palms around it and it dropped into my stretched out palms, spreading out its wings.
