Charlotte: Fated to the White Dragon
A shrill voice cuts through the merry din, interrupting my thoughts.
I turn a bit too sharply, and come face-to-face with an owl-like creature mounted on flamingo legs, its feathers are a gnarled mess of ash-grey and violet.
I can't even scream, considering chicken-feet here looked even scarier the first time.
The owl-flamingo's beak clicks once. Twice. Then it scuttles towards me with a bizarre, almost ceremonial bounce, leans in so close I can smell dampness and mildew on its breath. And it peers at me with eyes the size of a football.
