So he was feared by the other Alpha Kings, and was known as the cold-blooded Alpha King.” Immediately the hairs on the back of my neck tingled completely when I heard that, Cold-blooded King was a truly terrifying term. I can imagine how many werewolf lives he had destroyed.

And above them, floating like a fever dream, was a man wrapped in shadowsteel robes, a gold crown fused to his skull. “The King.” They called. He didn’t speak. He only raised his hand and the trees behind them exploded with chaos and fame. Elara ducked as a branch whipped past her head. Lyra slammed into her, bleeding from the scalp.

“Your soldiers matter more to you than a… simple slave girl. Surely you know that, Your Majesty.” I furiously nodded to her words, expecting the king to come to his senses, but he kept staring at the soldiers like he was internally making a serious decision and we were background noise. Who am I deceiving? He’s the infamous hybrid king. He won’t even feel remorse after he’s done. “Karl,” I whispered, unaware of how shaky, broken, and scared my voice was, but to my surprise, his eyes snapped to mine. “Cassia?” He held my cheeks in his palms. “Why are you crying? Does your back hurt that much?” I hadn’t realized I was until he pointed it out.

"My name is Beta Jax Clyde. I am the King's right hand." "It's nice to meet you, sir," she said as she finally dragged her eyes up, in awe of his beauty as well. While she had been distracted by the King as soon as she walked in, the Beta blocking her view of him forced her to take in how attractive he is. She didn't even realize that she was still holding his hand, though no longer shaking it, until the King let out a soft growl. Beta Jax cleared his throat, turning to gesture to the man, who was now sitting rigid in his chair. "This is the Lycan King, Alpha Kenzo."

Then, a tall man walked over to me. *You must be this lycan king I hear so much about. My name is Mercury Black, I'm Kayla's grandfather.” oh shit the one and only Mercury Black is in my fucking kingdom. My lycan was going nuts. He has been wanting to meet him as well. And now that we have. I came to realize what everybody has been talking about. He's one strong ass dude. That doesn't take shit from anyone. Shaking his hand I nodded “Yeah that's me the lycan king but your granddaughter seems not to believe me she thinks I'm lying because she thinks you are.” Hearing him chuckle, he explained.

"He doesn't know what he wants. He’s an ancient, starving thing who’s been alone way too long. He found a curiosity, a toy he’s puffed up into a title you’ll never understand." She stopped right in front of me, leaning in until I could smell that rotting orchid scent commit off of her. Her gold eyes burned with pure jealousy. "He belongs to the Vespera. Our bloodlines are written in the stars, not some pathetic, accidental contract with a grandfather who had no idea what he was selling." she said. "If you have something to say to the King, tell him yourself," I said, my voice steady. "But I wouldn't insult his Consort again. It didn't end well for Valerius."
