The Bad Gentleman
He releases one hand to help me, but in doing so, I smell something metallic and quickly realize the wetness on his hand is not water like I thought, but blood.
Alarms instantly go off in my head. I use my free hand to turn on the lamp on the bedside table. Truly, it’s blood on his hands, and now on mine.
I stare at our hands, then at him. Neither of us says a word even though we have much to say.
I throw my legs out of the bed, and he gives me just enough space to do so, rising to his feet when I stand, and quietly following me into the bathroom as I go.
