Blood Rain 2 Novels & Stories

Chapter 20 – The Blood Heart and the Darkness Valenfort — city of blood — now only ash and wind. Across a torn sky, crimson streaks twisted around collapsed towers like colossal veins boiling in their death throes. The rain was no longer water; it was blood-rain, thick, scalding, pouring over half-burned rooftops, mingling with the groans of lingering souls. At the heart of that ruin, Evelyn Cross walked alone. Cloak in tatters, eyes glowing with the dark-red light of the Blood Heart.

I say. "For what she expended." Maret chooses her words carefully. Sets them down like objects she is placing on a surface she isn't sure will hold them. "What she carries, what was revealed tonight, it isn't something we have a reference for. Not in living memory. The Moonblood hasn't manifested fully in generations." She pauses. "She used a significant portion of it in a very short time. The shift. The fight. And then what she did for you." She says that last part without inflection.

The Blood-Rain was not a metaphor. It was a physical corruption, a heavy, metallic downpour that stained the world a deep, visceral crimson. As the ten thousand newly awakened Hallowed warriors marched out of the Silver Mines, the sky seemed to be hemorrhaging. Each drop that landed on the skin felt like a needle-prick of sorrow, a cold, cloying reminder of the lives Selene had sacrificed to fuel her ascension.

Taking a deep long breath, I start to walk towards this person, but as soon as I do, the rain starts to fall harder, turning into blood that pours down in torrents, drenching me completely. I press on still, determined, and just as I'm about to see the face of the person, the rain turns into a crimson downpour, covering my eyes in a thick layer of blood. It feels warm and sticky against my skin, and I could feel it weighing heavily on my stomach particularly. I try to scream, but no sound comes out of my mouth. And then, everything goes black.

His eyes slowly lost their light as he stared at the reddened sky which glowed with thunderous red thunderous strikes followed by an outpour of rain of blood. The red-winged angel had been reborn and the skinwalker prophesies of Asher fulfilled.

"What's going on?!" "Get inside," I said. "Now. Lock everything." "But…" "Go!" He listened. I turned toward the woods. And then... it rained. Not water. Blood. Thick drops. Red. Warm. "No way," I muttered, wiping my face again. My fingers came away smeared with dark crimson. It felt thick, like syrup. My shirt stuck to my skin, heavy and soaked. "This... this isn't normal." The air smelled like metal. Like old blood and something rotten.

His eyes locked on the man and he looked down at the blood on the plastic sheet. It was fucking beautiful to look at. His whimpers of pain exhilarated Gage and he tapped the baton against Alejandro’s cheek. “Stay with me, Alejandro. The next part is going to be fun. I’m hoping you’ll really scream this time.” Gage dipped the tip of the baton into Alejandro’s blood on the sheet and grinned as he came to a standstill behind him. He rammed the baton into Alejandro’s anus, thrusting as hard as he could and Alejandro’s whole body arched, his feet leaving the floor as he screamed.

The sight was truly pitiful, and it made me nauseous, but it was his weakening heartbeat that shook me to my core. I ran to him grasping him immediately ripping the chain around his arm, bearing the brunt of his weight. “Fuck, you’re beautiful. I must be dreaming, right? You’re not really here, are you?” “This is no dream. I’m here. I’ve come for you. Do not try to speak. Have my blood.” My fingers traced his check softly as he looked up at me with awe while I prepared to break the skin on my wrist to feed him my blood.

You have been abiding too long with ghosts. "Humour me," I said calmly. "Before my patience runs out." He examined me at the edge of his glass. "You're asking about old money. Blood money. Before you were ready to rule." "And yet it still moves," I said. "Quietly." Vittorio leaned back. Dino, everything old is still breathing. You are the one who should know that, of all people. I leaned forward slightly. "Was it yours?" His smile was broad and very gradual. "Why ask me?"
