Julia’s scream startled me out of my stupor as her voice echoed down the hallway menacingly. It was followed by whimpering noises and shuffling of feet. Curiosity got the better of me as I peaked from behind the wall, trying to stay out of their view as best as I could. What I saw made me freeze in place, my blood chilling in my bones. Aurora was walking out the door with a limp to her steps. Her hair was in disarray and her clothes looked like they were hastily put back on in a hurry. However, the most shocking fact was the way she clutched her nose as tears ran down her eyes…and blood poured out of her nose and the gap between her fingers.

“That smoke—it’s alive.” Aurora’s silver eyes narrowed. The creature’s aura pulsed in sync with the forest’s hum, amplifying the clawing sensation in her mind. “It’s not natural,” she mindlinked. “It’s like the land’s been corrupted—by Nightshade.” The creature lunged, its claws slashing toward Aurora. She dodged with preternatural speed, her wolf’s agility saving her as the claws raked the earth, leaving scorched marks. Mikhail charged, his massive form colliding with the creature, sending it sprawling. Liam and Rylan pounced, their teeth snapping, but the creature’s smoky form flickered, evading their attacks with unnatural grace. Aurora’s heart pounded as she circled, feeling the creature

Standing tall in battle armor, a curved sword dripping red clenched in his hand. My mother stumbles back, holding her stomach. There’s blood. So much blood. He doesn’t hesitate. He lifts the sword and drives it through her. "NO!" I scream. The vision shatters. I’m on my knees, gravel digging into my skin, my chest heaving like I’ve run a marathon in ice. Arc’s voice cuts through the multitude of students. "Aurora?! What’s wrong?!" I look up at him, he who carries the blood of that man in his veins and my heart twists into something sharp and unbearable.

Whoever did this had made a mistake. And they were going to pay for it. But just as I sat with Aurora, something made me freeze. My hand shook when I took out my phone and went to the old email. " Aurora's blood group is AB(+)ve. How come Veronica's blood group is O(+)ve?"

SERA'S POV The air was thick with decay and blood. A foul stench clung to my throat, and I gagged, pulling my scarf over my nose. The dim torches along the walls flickered, casting long, twisted shadows across the room. And there she was. Aurora hung from the ceiling, her wrists bound by chains laced with glowing runes that pulsed like veins of fire. Her bare feet barely touched the ground, and her skin glistened with sweat and blood. Surrounding her were four creatures—my creatures.

SEVENTY-NINE Anabelle could not comprehend what she was looking at. Bodies were lying everywhere, it was a terrible massacre. She could tell that Amaris was no longer holding back and was indeed doing what she promised to do, to wipe off werewolves. The smell of blood was heavy in the air and the number of bodies only seemed to increase as they drove to the pack house. Amaris had attacked the pack's centre and killed anyone she spotted. Guilt ate at Anabelle as she looked at the cadavers of people that were once so alive.

Why did good people always suffer? “Are you sure?” This time aura asked looking deep into her brother’s eyes, she needed the reassurance that her baby will be fine. The door flung open again and a nurse walked out. “Who is unique eyes?” She asked and Aurora rushed to her. “I am the one” “He needs you” Before she could even finish the sentence, Aurora rushed into the operation room and there he was lying on the bed. The blood was still flowing out of his body and he looked really pale.

Something bitter that made my nostrils burn and throat itch slightly, wolfsbane. Aurora hadn't said a word or even moved a muscle, her eyes still fixed on the puddle of blood forming at the rear of Margaret's car. I need to get her out of here, we have no idea who could be watching us right now. I gently place my hand on her shoulder to get her attention, startling her. She jumps grabbing my hand, twisting it with such speed I didn't even have a chance to react, making me drop to my knees as she stares at me almost demonically with her eyes glowing white.

Jaxson I am delirious with confusion. I’m staggering around, like a limp pup with one leg, bloody and purely exhausted. I want to collapse, hell, my wolf wants me to fold in and just lay down, but I can’t. I keep stumbling forward with every painful drag of my wounded leg. I don’t know how I got this way, or what it’s going to take for this nightmare to end, but one thing is clear. This blood isn’t mine; it’s Aurora’s.

Blood. Dread settled over me like a heavy shroud. The once serene garden now bore the threatening mark of violence. I knelt down, scrutinizing the crimson stain on the ground. Fear coiled in my stomach, and the silence of the garden seemed to echo with the ominous weight of the unknown. Zoey's disappearance had already been a challenging situation, but the presence of blood escalated the situation to a new level of urgency. Every worst-case scenario raced through my mind. I couldn't lose her. Not after all she had been through.
