Emperor Jabari did not perfect Blossoming. However, James perfected it after learning it. Although it was nothing impressive in the Greater Realms, it was one of the most beautiful Supernatural Powers. Since Leilani was a woman, she would love beautiful things. Thus, James concluded he could attract Leilani's attention if he cast Blossoming in the competition.

Before me stretched a winding, narrow path that ended in a bottomless cave. Beside it stood a towering, ancient tree. Its scent of osmanthus drifted even from afar. The villagers said the tree had absorbed the essence of countless Blossom Brides. That was what made it so tall and fragrant. When we were thirty feet away from the cave, the procession abruptly stopped.

We became best friends right from our college days and we both studied cinematology during our university days. Jamie was one lady with a very pretty face. Her sunrise gold hair always flowed over her shoulders. Her glossy skin was one of her easily noticeable, admirable features. She had a dainty nose which perfectly aligned with her round face. Her petite body figure and burnished skin were perfect for her body. Jamie was indeed beautiful. I was doing the dishes in the kitchen when Jamie's shrill voice startled me again. "We did it!" Jamie screamed and excitedly jumped on me as soon as I appeared in the living room.

I sniff and rest my chin on my hands. My eyes trail down, and through my blurry vision, I can see dozens and dozens of flowers blooming around me. I furrow my brow, wiping at my eyes again and moving to sit on my knees and crouch over the flowers. I hadn't wiped my hands on the ground, but they were still blooming. Pink ones, purple, white. Still smaller than a quarter, but slightly bigger than the last ones I made bloom. And there were a lot more of these too. They continued to appear around where I sat as I watched.

The doll came with a built-in recorder. When she played the tape inside, she heard a voice that sounded drearily familiar. "Wow, you got a doll for me, Mommy! I’m going to sleep with this doll every night. I love you, Mommy!" She felt like she was reliving the pain again. Every word struck her with the force of a sledgehammer. The tears she had been suppressing all this time burst out in an instant! She hugged the doll tightly and curled up on the bed, desperate to feel the slightest trace of Anya’s warmth.
