Maverick was getting desperate as they cleared the place and still hadn’t found her. ‘Where the fuck was she?’ He thought worriedly when he heard a shout and raced across the back of the compound to a set of buildings almost hidden by trees and the wall surrounding the compound. When he entered through the double doors, he froze in horror. The Council Leader stood backed into a corner, his arm holding a barely conscious Mervon with a vicious-looking knife at her throat.

Where’s Blue? I scanned left, right, didn’t see her beside the door. That only meant one thing. “My dragon is at work,” I muttered, already dreading the stupidity I was about to witness. Then I heard Abigail. “Blue, spit that amazing fireball at him! He said he’s fire resistant!” Oh for the love of... I pushed through the crowd and the scene unfolded like a nightmare, a full circle of students surrounding Blue... my Blue who was glowing like she’d just eaten the sun and was gearing up to incinerate someone.

“I thought that…” She went silent, and kept whimpering. “You thought what?” I asked, seeing that I had been fighting a lost battle from the beginning. “I knew Luca would come around faster, so I thought it'd be a faster way to get rid of you, and now, I don't want that.” Blue said, and it made me feel worse. “I guess you got what you wanted in the end.” I muttered as everything became blurry. “Maverick, you can't tell anyone, and you know that, right?” Blue asked, and I felt more pain than I ever felt in that moment.

My heart was heavy and I felt burned instead of relaxed. A part of me wishes that I had never agreed to come on this trip. The day hadn’t even ended and already it was shitty. “What are you going to do if he is your father?” Midnight pops up in my head. There was no sign of Blue. I couldn’t feel her. Ignoring her question, I ask, “Where is Blue?” “She’s closed herself off after Lucas’ wolf reached out to her. “But you weren’t replying my texts and the calls weren’t going through.” “You haven’t answered my last question,” Alex looked directly at him. “How do you know where I live?” “Come on, Blue,” he spoke in a weird tone. “I’ve dropped you off a couple of times and well, each time I step out of my car to watch you until you actually get inside. I couldn’t help but smirk when I walked out into the living room. I opened the door to her room, and as I suspected, I was the only person at home. I knew she would do something like this.
