The plan seemed to work pretty smoothly as no one seemed to have suspected anything. In a couple of minutes, me and Mackenzie were already on the outskirts of Drewsy, past the bay and into the woodland area. “Mummy, this isn’t the way to school” Mackenzie eventually chirped. “oh no honey, we’re not going to school today” I responded “Where are we going then? Are we going to meet up with Daddy” she said expectantly, excited at the possibility. It broke my heart a little that the man she had come to love as her father was a monster. I blamed myself for getting myself to be the mate of such a heartless beast in the first place.

„Mackenzie," I whispered, trying to catch her attention. Her wings flapped louder, and the rain washed the blood from her feathers, revealing their actual color.
