“My mother has a list of books that will help Stormie. Retrieve the list and gather the books from the library. If any books are on the list but not in the library, go buy them.” My jaw tensed, but I didn’t say anything. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath to calm myself. When I left the office, I knew Axel was sending me on trivial errands to keep me busy. If I wasn’t careful, I was liable to hit him again, or he might fire me. Closing the office door, I walked down the hall to meet Luna Audrey. She had a list ready for me with over thirty books. She was nice when she told me where I could find everything on the list and even apologized for sending me on such an errand.

I close my eyes, focusing on her fingers soothingly stroking my hair and the comforting rhythm of her heartbeat. "This is really weird. You found this in the library?" He asked me and I nodded my head. "Let's head there." He then said and together, we made our way there. We got into the library and Kieran got serious with his findings all over the shelves. He stumbled on a book while I was piling up books and gasped in shock. "Stormy you need to see this." He said and I ran to him. "I don't know who placed this here but whoever did is a genius.

JULIAN ST. CLAIR’S POV *Low lighting. Shadows cling to the bookshelves, stretching like secrets. Rain whispers against the tall windows. The storm outside is gentle — almost tender. I sunk my bottocks in my chair, alone at my desk, a half-empty glass of whiskey in my hand. A bottle of something old and expensive rests beside me.*

I pulled aside the small black book, which looked both old and worn, with careful hands. With a frown, I flipped open the first page to see beautiful handwriting. ‘To whoever finds this, know that my death was not an accident….it was planned.’

“They’ll let us out then. Or the storm might pass and power will return.” He stepped closer. The air between us felt thicker, charged like the lightning outside. “And if it doesn’t?” I swallowed. “Then we wait. There’s water in the break room, and plenty of… books.” His lips twitched, not quite a smile. “How convenient.” We moved to the main reading area. I found a few emergency candles in the supply closet and lit them, casting flickering golden light over the long oak tables and endless shelves. The storm raged on, thunder rolling like distant drums.

I spit before walking out if the house without a second glance at her ... I grab the grocery bags from behind my car along with the little something I got Stormy, to appeal for my pride. I hope she accepts it. The elevator door opened and I step out going for my condo, I type in the code before walking in. The sigh in front of me makes me drop the bags to the floor in disbelief. *** Kent POV As I reached the meeting place, I roamed my eyes around and the place seems darker than yesterday. I saw a few stars from the sky so maybe a storm will come. I wasn't wrong, the rain started to pour down from the dark sky. I was inside the car waiting for Cassandra's message. I heard my phone beep. I check my inbox and saw her text. "I'm inside. You can come in." She said in the text.
