1 I had just tucked the gift list away when the front door burst open. Caleb Brooks stumbled in, a little tipsy, and plopped down next to me. "You were gone for a few days. I bet you thought you wouldn't come back. "However, you missed me too much, didn't you? You just had to come back." He almost said out loud that I returned just to con him out of his money. Maybe he'd always seen me as just a girl after his cash.

Both of them closed. I stand there, trying to decide which to go into, knowing I only have a second to choose. "Kamila," Jackson sing-songs. Nope, not even a second, then. I open the door to the room right in front of me. I gasp at the darkness of it, only catching a glimpse of a large black bed and dark carpet before I quietly shut the door behind me. Then I'm surrounded by black.

Suddenly, I hear a knock at the door of my room. “Come in, it's open,” I gave my consent. I didn't bother asking who it was. I mean, it's Paul's flat. He is the only one I'm expecting. I quickly adjusted my shirt to conceal my cleavage. Slowly, I saw the door drifting in the opposite direction as Paul walked in with tired eyes. Perhaps, I wasn't the only one who was finding it difficult to catch some sleep. However, I don't think we have the same reason for staying awake.

“Are you going to close the door, or what?” And he was an asshole with a bad attitude too. Slamming the door behind her, she walked across the polished floorboards to the bookcase as Noah opened the sliding doors, letting the light breeze float into the apartment. He walked out onto the balcony and lit another cigarette, turning his back to her as he smoked. Serenity looked over the books, noticing a lot of the same volumes as the other apartment. She picked up the one she’d been reading and took it to the sofa, curling up on it and opened the book. “What happens to the books at the other apartment?”

After dropping off Dane in her room, I returned to my room. I closed the door behind me, the quiet click echoing louder than I expected. My room felt colder now, emptier. Like, even the walls could sense something had changed. I leaned back against the door, taking a deep breath, but it caught in my chest. I knew I couldn’t just sit around waiting for a miracle. I had to do something. I pushed off the door and went straight to the shelf near my bed. I’d always kept a few books on magic and bonds, mostly out of curiosity. But tonight, they felt like my only lifeline.

Joel POV Miranda walked into the room and set her purse down on the night table. I followed her all the way in, staring at her beautiful little ass. I turned around and closed the door, being sure to lock the deadbolt. The hotel was nice and in a nice area, but the last thing I needed was any hotel cleaning staff coming in unannounced. As I turned back around, Miranda was right in front of me, giving me a little push so I allowed her to push me against the door. Her lips crashed into mine, forcing her tongue into my mouth, and moaning as I accepted it. You know the side hallway by the library?” I nodded. “There’s a hidden passage behind the tall bookshelf. Pull the black book with the red spine. It opens a door. Go through, stay quiet, don’t stop.”
