Book Box Library Novels & Stories

Then another. Warm golden flames awakened one by one along the towering shelves until the immense underground library slowly emerged from the darkness, not all at once but gradually, revealing polished oak, carved cedar, and countless generations of carefully preserved memories bathed in a gentle amber glow that seemed far softer than the harsh electric lights of the world above. Serena remained standing before the wooden box, the silver key still resting inside the lock, while everyone else instinctively gathered closer without anyone suggesting they should. It wasn't caution that drew them together.

She is smiling like she found something that just made her day. “What’s with the books?” Romy bounced onto the bed, “First, the romance book section in your library is awesome. We totally need to check it out together. Second, I got these pack law books. These are the first two of four.” I smiled. Of course, she had already gone to the library. Her weapon is her mind and sharp tongue. She uses them well, too. “Did you find something interesting?”

“Where it was always supposed to be.” The next morning I take the book to the library and Bowen helps me find the right place for it on the shelf, which requires moving two other volumes and having a brief discussion about chronological versus thematic organisation that is the most Bowen conversation I have ever had and which I win, though he does not admit this. He runs his hand along the spine when I slide it into place. “There,” he says. “There,” I agree. We stand in the library for a moment. “Bowen,” I say. “The fullbond. What does it mean. Going forward.”

"And the only place that has a table large enough, the proper light, and the humidity control for a book this old is the Pack Library's reading room." I watched him, holding my breath. The Library was a public space, constantly monitored, and rarely empty. It was the perfect escape. He straightened up, his eyes meeting mine. They held a spark of knowing amusement. He knew exactly what I was doing. "A good idea, Iris," he said slowly, dragging out my name. "Safety of the records is paramount. We can't afford to lose any evidence." My relief was immediate and dizzying. "Thank you, Alpha Wolfe. I'll arrange to have the book moved right away, and we can start working there tomorrow."

I inquired as he smiled gently at me which made me a little uncomfortable. He shrugged, “King's Order!” I exhaled, getting tired of Oliver's persistence. “Fine, guess you would be showing me around today.” “No problem—-right this way.” He said to me, We began walking to the pack house which was so big. It had everything you imagine——a beautiful garden, a gym, an aquarium and my personal favorite…….the library. When we got to the library, I was in awe of it. The room is so large but filled with different books. Ranging from fiction to nonfiction. This looks so cool—-guess I found my new special place.

My fingers hovered over spines until I found what I wanted: a thick book bound in dark leather, the title stamped in faded gold. WOLF TRADITIONS & BONDS: A GUIDE FOR COUNCIL AND HOUSEHOLDS I lifted it off the shelf and stared at it for a full five seconds, because no part of me enjoyed the fact that this existed like it was a homeowner’s association handbook. I set it on the table and opened it. The first page had a handwritten warning in neat block script: THIS TEXT IS FOR PACK USE. DO NOT REMOVE FROM LIBRARY. Beneath it, someone had scribbled, smaller:

A lockbox is fixed to the wall–built within it. The room blurs. I forget where I am as I send my powers into the lockbox. Metal sizzles until the frame comes loose from the wall, and the little metal door falls into my hand. I toss it behind me and reach inside, praying, my fingertips grazing cash and jewelry before finding… the book. “Yes,” I hiss, smiling deliriously as I pull the book from its hiding place, clutching the small, black leather cover and rocking back on my heels. I flip through the pages, confirming it’s the copy, the only book of its kind in existence.

“Sure, sure, but I made sure that every reader will feel rewarded for their efforts.” Chastine was puzzled at what he said. “Rewarded? What’s the reward?” Duke-X explained about his new archive storing system. “The book itself.” “Huh?” Juste was more puzzled than Chastine and Maxill. “You see, I made modifications about the archival system in this library. Books are now shelled inside each egg that keep them in their top condition.” He added, “you have to get the book that you want from the box machine where the eggs are stored. The box machine has claws that you use to get the egg from the box.”

And before she could react, she had already questioned him. "Oh?" Marcus raised his head and looked at her, "Which of these?" "Those at the back." She answered as she pointed at the four piled up thick books who obviously looked worn out. "Oh. I found that inside the box at the library's storage room. It was interesting hence I took it." Marcus nonchalantly answered. As he looked at Minerva who had a complicated look at the old books, he couldn't help but offer, "Read it if you want. You could also take that to your room."

On my way home, I stop by the Lending Library. Our neighborhood has been blessed with a wonderful treasure, the Lending Library. It's the most sacred of treasures for a reader like me. The idea is, I read a book, and when I'm finished, I return it to the Lending Library for someone else to read. The Lending Library is a large bookshelf that stands on a post. It resembles a mailbox.
