Back to the front cover. Kenneth gave me this book as a present. For drawing purposes, I know it's a sketchpad with white blank papers. Just ordinary... Yet now, I'm witnessing with my own two eyes how the plain abstract cover erased its colors, transforming into something red with cursive design at the center. Written in thick italic letters, THE BOOK OF STRINGS wrote itself as if there's an invisible hand with golden ink writing them. Behind the panel was a small space, just big enough to hide something. Inside was a single book. It didn’t look like any of the other books in the library. Its cover was dark, almost black, and made of old leather that looked like cracked bark from a tree. The corners were worn down, and it had no title. Just a symbol. A silver moon. It shimmered faintly, even though the light in the library was dim.

But something about that book caught my eye. It wasn’t like the others. The cover was deep red—so dark it looked almost like dried blood in the dim light. The edges were lined with gold that had faded with age. I frowned and bent down to pick it up. It felt heavier than it looked. When I turned it over, I noticed something strange.

Most of the covers were just black with huge fonts on the front covers in a language l didn't understand. I screwed up my nose as l looked further down in to the shelves. As l took a thin book from the last shelf , l noticed the difference in it from all the books. While most of the books had grey and yellow pages and we're in fragile condition , this book was a paperback with white pages untouched. It looked brand new and in English.

I wasn’t sure of what the exact book was but I knew I would recognize it if I saw it and I did when he brought them in. It had a purple hard cover back with the picture of a lily printed on it. She had looked so intrigued by it when she was reading it and I could tell that she loved it given how much she fought to have it.
