The light illuminated the space, full of old objects and stacked boxes. As she walked, a loose floorboard creaked beneath her feet. She bent down to see what it was and, with some effort, lifted the board. She found an old book, covered in dust, with a leather cover filled with drawings of supernatural creatures. Scarlett’s heart began to race; something about the book drew her in, as if it held secrets waiting to be discovered.

After three back-to-back nights of working until 3:00 am, I dropped dead. Honestly, I thought it was a relief and that my 23 years of corporate misery had finally come to a blissful end. But when I opened my eyes, I found myself transmigrated into a horror game. Right now, I was sitting in a classroom. A hanging ghost dangled from the blackboard, and its long tongue was dragging across the floor. A jumper ghost was doing a handstand on the desk with its eyeballs stretched six feet out of their sockets.

I could hear my heart pounding inside my chest and my vein thumping in my throat. "So before taking another wrong step think about your little friend here," he spoke. He had filled the remaining distance between us and towered over me. I looked at Claire, who was staring back at me. This man has destroyed everything of me before and now, he was back to destroy me. You must be wondering who this man was and why was he after me. So, let's start from the beginning. This story began about a year ago. On my birthday night, that night which became my worst nightmare. I remember it as if it only happened yesterday.

After the boys had left my room, I went through my bag and pulled out my favorite book, Night Flame, by Catherine Hart. I sat back in my chair by the window, prepared to spend the rest of the afternoon reading when a shiver ran down my spine. I jumped out of my seat and spun around to see a pair of yellow eyes glowing in the corner of the room. As those eyes drew closer to me, I realized that it was Simon, the fae that came to warn me the other day.

And as I drifted into a fitful sleep, I couldn't help but wonder if Elliot's silence on the matter was born out of fear, a fear we both shared, a fear of the unfathomable horrors that lurked just beneath the surface. The nightmares began that night, as I was plunged into a realm of eerie darkness and foreboding. In my dreams, I found myself standing by the same lake, its tranquil surface marred by an unsettling stillness. The moon hung heavy in the sky, casting an ethereal glow upon the water's edge.

Slowly, I am finally getting back my sense of safety inside our own house. The nightmares have stopped coming to me but that doesn’t mean that I forgot what happened and it is already gone. I am still scared and it is not something that I can just erase in my memories.

"Did you know that dullahans have literal nightmares as steeds? As in the levitating spectral demon horses usually only commanded by the King of Dreams?" I stood up, making a shot for the garbage can with my cup. It bounced off the rim and scared a stray tabby cat. Well if that wasn't a metaphor for this conversation, I don't know what was. "Because I sure as hell didn't when I'd asked him to take me home!" Fun fact: Nightmares are actually very sweet once you get past the teeth. Not so fun fact: They like sudden drops when flying. "Promise. Details," Noelle threatened with a current of magenta magic sparking at her fingers. "Now!"

He flicks the light on, and I wince at the brightness before he closes the door behind him. Soon after, the muted sound of the steady shower stream hitting the tiles fills the silent void. I close my eyes and focus on the pattering purr of the water moving through old pipes. In a matter of seconds, exhaustion pulls me into a plague of nightmares—detached, groping hands, bullets, so many bullets, and at the centre of it all, a terrified little boy with eyes as black as night.

I asked, squinting my eyes trying to get a glimpse of the stranger. “Oh please I know more than your name bunny, I know everything about you” he said taking two more steps. “So you are a stalker then, how long have you been stalking me?” I panicked as I took more steps back. “I’m not a stalker bunny, I’m your nightmare” the voice said and just like the wind he disappeared into the shadows like he was never there, my heart sank into my stomach as his last words echoed in my head. I’m your nightmare.

However, little did he know that his actions would soon catch up with him, and the truth would be revealed to the world. He forgot about Racheal and started sleeping around with ladies. As Peter tried to carry on with his life, the guilt he felt for his wife's death began to consume him. Every night he had nightmares about the accident, and every day he felt like he was being watched by the police. He began to drink heavily, hoping to numb the pain and forget about what he had done.
