GRAY When morning comes, I wake feeling more relaxed and rested than I have in ages. This was the first good night of sleep that I’ve had in… I don’t even know how long. I’m often plagued with nightmares replaying the shadow pack’s attack on mine, of my mother screaming at me to get away as she was torn down. Needless to say, I don’t get much sleep after those nightmares rear their ugly head- but last night, they didn’t come.

I assured him, though I did lean on him as we left my room. “I was having a nightmare. There was a wailing baby, and every door I opened was dead. And when I finally got the crib, there wasn’t a baby, just blood.” I recapped my nightmare, shaking as I tried to hold back tears. “Well, that’s freaky. I’ll give you that.” André nodded. “And you woke up to find the blood?”

No time to laze around in bed. His sleep in the past few weeks after his father's death had been troubled, to say the least. He would go to bed and few minutes into his sleep, the nightmares would start . Several recurring images of his father dying, of Lauren almost getting killed by her father, of the whole battle scene at the laboratory. The bodies of several Lycans littering the parkng lot of the laboratory. The images played over and over in his head like a faulty video player: a few more minutes into it and the screams and cold sweat would start. He would wake up soaked from his head to his clothes in sweat, and he wouldn't be able to go back to bed after that.

So she could also feel the mate bond between us. My heart fluttered as soon as I stepped into the mansion. She was jumping in happiness, giggling happily. She was never that happy in her father's palace. But she enjoyed every second whenever she visited us. I knew it had to do something with the nightmares she had. Ever since she was a baby, she had been having those nightmares. And for some unknown reason, they were getting out of hand. She could no longer control them. It didn't matter if she was asleep or not. She could see those nightmares while she was awake. She could hear the screams of that woman she told us all about. I was worried if it was a spirit she could see.

"Shadows don't move on their own." Except mine always had. I did the breathing exercise Mrs. Hawthorne taught me when I was little, count to ten, close your eyes, think of something peaceful. When I opened them again, everything was normal. Just regular darkness doing what darkness does. My phone said 3:33 AM. Of course it did. Every time the nightmares woke me up, it was always 3:33. The nightmare was still fresh, playing on repeat behind my eyes. A burning kingdom,a man with silver eyes reaching for me, mouth moving in words I couldn't hear. Shadows swallowing everything the castle, the sky, the screaming people. And me, falling through darkness that tasted like death itself.

Even after the moon waned and night turned to day, I continued to bite my nail, waiting for news from my mate but as the hours went by and I heard nothing, my anticipation and anxiety continued to mount. “I’m sure he is fine,” Beth said. “You should rest, Channy. Think of your baby.” Despite my mind being alert, I couldn’t deny the fact that my body was tired so I let her lead me to the only room in the sanctuary and coax me to sleep. With time, I could not keep my eyes open and the nightmares started. I had terrible nightmares on repeat. It was either I died or my mate died. In every dream where I died, I saw Dahlia towering above me, her eyes filled with malice as she stabbed into my stoma

Lebotha tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep after the nightmare. Her heart was still racing and her mind kept replaying the frightening scenes from her dream. It felt so real, like a premonition of danger to come. This wasn’t the first time she has had such nightmares. For the past few months and years, she kept having bad dreams of impending doom and destruction. At first, she brushed them off as a result of her anxiety and stress. However, the nightmares have become more frequent and intense lately. She started to worry there might be more to them than just a manifestation of her fears and worries.

Jess sat up right and once more it was pitch black, that’s when jess understood what this was. “My nightmares.” Jess whispered, her voiced echoed in the darkness, but it was as if Jess had just said the key for everything to explode. Every single one of her bad memories, jumped out of the dark, young Jess sitting with her dead mother, trying to clean her wound, hoping she will wake up if Jess just keeps pressure on it. Her Father chasing her, beating her, screaming at her. Her beast tormenting her once again. All the Jess’s, the young ones or the older ones, each one of them that cried out in pain as they were being cut, burned or beaten, each Jess that was ever told how she should just die,

NIGHTMARES. A very bad or frightening dream. Anna was starting to lose count of the number of nightmares she’s been having since Josh’s death but whenever she woke up with one, clearing her head with a jog had been working well on her. She lets out a sigh as she turns sideways to stare at the mini alarm clock she had next to her bed. The time read 6:00 am and she hated the fact that she had to be awake at this early hour of the day.

Mommy used to tell me that Nightmare is an evil spirit formerly thought to oppress people while they were sleeping. It causes people to experience bad things in their dreams. Yuan used to get annoyed whenever I cry and wet the bed because I had a bad dream. Mom and Dad will come to me and let me sleep in their room.
