Aria stepped forward, silver light radiating from her palms. “We endure. Always. You will not harm us.”
Kael moved to her side, his blade a gleaming streak of steel. “Name yourself,” he demanded, voice echoing off the stone.
The shadow laughed, a sound that scraped across the walls. “I am the Balance. I was here before the first Luna walked these lands. Varos was only a spark. I am the storm you cannot flee.”
Aria’s stomach tightened. This was not a council member. This was something older, deeper, a force bound to the Moon and the land itself. “Then we will face it,” she said, her voice rising. “We do not flee shadows.”
