Caleb himself looked… different, his eyes were too bright, and feverish, a fresh, livid scar crossed his cheek from Rafe’s chains.
In his hand, he held not a weapon, but the Seer’s bone knife, it glowed with a sickly, greenish light that matched the moss.
“The flawed and the failures.” Caleb yelled, his voice echoing in the cavern.
“Hiding in a hole, how fitting.” He chuckled
“You’re the one who followed us into a hole.” Zayne shot back, his knives ready. “That makes you a rat.”
Caleb’s smile didn’t falter, he ignored Zayne, his eyes finding Rafe and me. “The Grove was a setback, a moment of… divine confusion, but the truth is still the truth.”
