I was late morning when Tristan entered the room pulling my head of the book, I looked at him in slight amazement. “We have the conference call in twenty minutes.” He greeted stepping into the room as I looked up. “What?” He asked and I held up the book. “Tristan, this book.” I stated not really knowing how to explain it. “It’s a novel, just a story that I found in the library, but it’s based on a family of werewolves, the two daughters, twins, were born with a special gift, they could produce fire and ice.” I uttered and watched as his brows rose. “They later became joint alphas of the their pack. Do you think this could be the story of the alpha twins that we were looking for?”

My body started to burn. I pleaded again for whomever it was, to stop. “I can’t..breath..who are..you?” I said in between breaths as he laid against my back, pressing the length of his body into me. “Emm..shhhh..soon..soon my little dove. Your lovely..wings..will be clipped..ahh..” He sat up behind me, keeping the rhythm of the flickering flames against the wall.

Soaring beside the terrifying dragon was a winged figure of such staggering majesty and grandeur that would make one’s soul tremble in awe. This was no mere beast or entity - this was an elemental force of nature imbued with a searing, blazing radiance that eclipsed the fiercest wildfires. The figure's wings were an impossible, burning crimson that seemed to blaze with an internal luminescence as if forged from the heart of a supernova itself. Each immense wing spanned farther than eyes could track, their leading edges glowing hot like the birth of a newborn star. They beat in slow, inexorable downstrokes that stirred the very air into frenzied cyclones.

You cannot… It didn’t finish, because the fire moved from us. The white blaze poured outward, sculpting itself into form. Wings, yes, but not of flame alone. They carried weight, shape, bone made of light, feathers cut from fire. They unfurled behind us, vast enough to brush the hollow walls, each beat scattering roots like brittle twigs. The girl gasped, her voice a ragged prayer. “Saints… you’re… ” But she couldn’t name it, neither could I.

I heard Austin’s voice, but it faded away slowly among the winds, as another vision flashed before my eyes. Fire, the richest element, one so noble, yet deadly. I frowned as the crackling flames turned against an unknowing wind. The fire changed directions; whooshing left and right, instead of simply roaring upwards. My eyes followed the strange directions before something flew out from the flames...a flaming creature. I gasped, my mind immediately flashed back to the drive, the creature the stars portrayed... a dragon.

I hadn’t understood what she meant until now. Maybe she knew. Maybe the fire was never meant to destroy me. The moon slides out from behind the clouds. For a second, the ashes around me glow faintly, stirred by a soft gust. They spiral upward, forming the faint outline of wings. Phoenix wings. I blink, and they’re gone. The world feels too still. Too empty. No guards. No scent of wolves. They must have thought there was nothing left to find. No one survives a fire like that. I crawled towards the river. The reflection that greets me isn’t mine.

My vision spins, but I push myself back up. I can’t stop now. The beast comes at me again. I close my eyes and dig deep. I feel the power inside me…the light, the fire, the part of me that’s growing stronger every day. I let it rise. My body lifts off the ground again, and this time, wings made of silver flames burst from my back. They shimmer like moonlight. I fly straight at the beast, dodging its claws and slamming a ball of fire into its head. It screams and stumbles, but still doesn’t fall.

With a flap of his wings, a terrible gust of wind blew in the starry sky and rolled back the red flames all over the sky. "Flaming Qilin, are you going to start a war?" The Immortal Master of the Winged race looked at Flaming Qilin coldly. "So what if I want to start a war?" Flaming Qilin's eyes were red, and he was full of killing intent. "You birdman, I'll kill you and roast you." Flaming Qilin raised his hand. His Red Flame Qi swept out, like several fire dragons, rushing toward the Immortal Master of the Winged race.
