Slowly, I looked over her shoulder and saw the sight before me. My home was burning. The sight stopped something inside me. Fire had swallowed the small cottages I remembered walking between only days earlier. People were running in every direction. Some carried children against their chests while others stayed behind, trying to fight the wolves tearing through our community. I saw magic flashing between the houses, bright bursts of light cutting through the smoke, but there were too many wolves. “ Mommy!” I cried, twisting in her arms. “ Daddy and the Alphas…they were talking about burning everyone. Did they mean doing this? ”

XAVIERA Fire roared through the night's sky, heating up the cold night. The large house before me spat flames, heavily clothed in thick black smoke. Heart wrenching screams could be heard from the house, filling it and overflowing through every outlet of the burning house. I tried to move, but my legs wouldn't obey. I was stuck—stuck in a way I couldn't decipher. Sweat trickled down my face as I fought to free my legs, loud screams from the house sent slithering chills down my spine.

He asked seriously. "Burnt them, all of them." Snow stood up and pulled his brother along. "Let me show you." Quietly he led his brother to the small bridge that leads to their house and when the older looked a bit farther, he saw firefighters and their trucks parked as they tried to put out the fire that furiously consumed their once used to be home. "I burnt them all, Lover." Snow smiled. Both parents were in the burning house along with all the dirty secrets. "Now, we are free." He whispered as his brother hugged his waist and nestled his head on his shoulder. Together they both enjoyed the view as it played out before them. Nothing would be saved from that house.

"I don't want to go back to that house... I can't breathe there. Every move I make, Dad has something to say about it. I don't want to go home... please, don't take me back." She still seemed drunk... but I knew Alina. She hated letting anyone see her like this, hated showing this vulnerable side of herself. She never wanted anyone to see her cry, yet here she was, breaking down again in front of me. Who else other than my family would destroy what means the most to me? There is nobody who lives around here for miles, just my mother and her secluded house in the woods. It is the only place that could erupt in the flames. The burning house comes into site. My body stills, feet, stumbling over one another, as I slowly approach the house. The firefighters gave up ground reluctantly to the hungry flames. I woke up thinking a storm was rolling in from the lack of sunshine, the glowing clock casting strange shadows in my darkened room. The sky outside was black with smoke, gray ash falling like desecrated snow. The smell of smoke permeated everything, even when I closed the windows and stuffed a towel under the front door. I stared out the window into the dark sky, wondering where the fire was. The fire danger had been marked extreme for over a month, but even then it was still early in the season for a fire this size. The dry winter and abnormally warm spring had made the entire area a tinderbox ready to burn.
