Novel & Cerita Books Are My Life...

Beside it was a handwritten rendition of a line from a poem, written by the poet, Shamus Upshaw. "Through life's ups and downs, I walk ever on, unmoved by storms or fair weather." Over in a corner of the study stood a vase as tall as a person. In it were a few dried eucalyptus branches that added a unique sensibility to the place. A wooden bookcase was positioned flush against the western wall, and it was filled with thousands of threadbound volumes. After taking a seat on a wooden chair, Ambrose said, "My name is Ambrose Landon. I'm Serena's father."

The rescue squad even used my story to raise awareness, publishing guides on flood safety and survival in submerged areas. I hoped that my death would be a reminder, that maybe people would choose kindness and empathy over cruelty. But human nature can be fickle; under pressure, it too often falls apart. I can speak but I choose not to because I'm afraid. My legs are barely usable from the constant broken bones that healed incorrectly. Standing or walking for more than ten minutes I start to have pain in my bones. Yet I still have to do everything around the house I have learned to endure the pain. It also doesn't help that I don't know how to read or write since no one ever taught me I had to learn things from observation. I remember when I was about six or seven there was a little girl named Anna who lived next door to me. She sometimes would sneak over when no one was home and we'd play. She taught me many things like colors, shapes, and numbers.

What else would appease me other than these books? I wouldn't think of idleness again. Once I took one book, I was lost in its pages already. Would I even have time for any other thing again? Books were my life. I smiled as I trailed my hands on them. I had been missing out all this while. I didn't even know that there was something like this in the house while I did the same routine over and over again. It was as if I had seen a goldmine and I would of course never let it go again.

I asked, looking down at her. “Yes wait no. I mean no.” Elena answered, shaking her head rapidly looking back up for a few seconds then back down folding the clothes. “Alright then.” I said leaving the topic at that and started to pick up the books and place them in the box. She had a lot of books. Mostly books about romance and a few about dark romance.There were also a few school books about biology, astrophysics, chemistry, physics and engineering etcetera. “Miss Romano.” Elena called out.

So, I looks around the pile of books that are surrounding me and I begin to work. Wether I like it or not, I have another change at life.

"My child is my responsibility. I can raise him myself! In this lifetime, I only have two children—Addie and Jas. Stop dreaming!" Spotting a broom in the corner, she grabbed it without hesitation and swung it at them. "Get out! Get out of here!" "Nice one!" I cheered wildly from the side, waving my arms excitedly. "Nobody gets to break our family apart!" For some reason, my condition had been getting worse lately. I was always drowsy, and my body was becoming more transparent. I looked at the cross-stitch and tried countless times to hang it back on the wall, but the lightweight cloth felt like it was heavier than a thousand pounds.

It's not that I'm not used to hate, but because everyone believes anything they see on the internet, even if it's not the truth of the whole story. I sat down on the cold floor lifelessly. Staring at my screen. Is this the start of my downfall? Twelve years of my hard work… and this is what I get in return?

Her dream was for me to graduate, and I didn't want to let her down. After school, I go straight to work and return home around 2 a.m., exhausted and fed up with this life. The only thing that calms me down and makes my day better is when I get back and continue reading my books. They are the only thing I will have with me for the rest of my life. They've become a part of me, and I never leave the house without them. They are like an escape from reality, letting me forget about my boring life.

Choosing which to read was a pleasing difficulty. He shook the eight ball with one hand, smiling. “What’s it going to be?” he whispered, running his other hand along the spines of books on his tightly packed shelf. “Some ghost stories, today?” The white polyhedron, suspended in liquid turned murky with age, jiggled as it revealed: Future is Hazy. John chuckled as he returned his attention to the books before him. “Story of my life,” he whispered. “Story of my . . . ”
