As I perused the shelves, my eyes landed on a weathered journal, its pages filled with untold stories. I carefully opened the journal, my fingers trembling with anticipation. The pages crackled under my touch, revealing a glimpse into Alexander's life—a life he had chosen to keep hidden, even from me. The words on those pages painted a picture of a complex and enigmatic man, a past fraught with secrets and shadows.

I didn't know how to put it in a way that does not offend her, hence I just stayed quiet about it and just described to her what the specific contents of the book may entail. Thankfully, she obliged without a word. After relentless scouring and searching, we eventually stumbled upon one that met my criteria. It was a journal—a journal authored by a former warrior of the Great Rift. "Are you sure this is what you're looking for? Not a textbook?"

The ladies all giggle and Julie stands, handing a new bookmark to each of us. "Yes. We figured we'd get you ones that suited you a little better." she says. There was an opened book and a graphic pen in the middle, coated with dust I blew off the dust and picked up the book. It was a journal filled with Reine's writing. She also titled the journal 'when it started going wrong' I sat on the chair and opened a drawer. Just like this journal, there was another Reine titled, 'My entire experience here.'

I jotted back a quick thank you. I walked into the living room. The wall opposite the kitchen was entirely shelved with books and journals, old diaries collecting dust. Classics, contemporary… you could read a new book the entire year without repeating. My fingertips grazed over old, embroidered leather covers and brilliantly decorative dust jackets. Here, I could stay in this room forever, lounging below the wide cabin window like a lazy house cat near the heat of the crackling fire. I opened a random book to a dog-eared page which was folded to an entry dated, November 5th.

Within seconds, I was scanning lines that felt familiar, making me huff quietly. “This is what she reads?” I muttered, picking up another book with similar themes. This one was about a dominant executive and a stubborn assistant with heated exchanges disguised as professional conflict. Reaching for the third, I shook my head, amused despite myself. “So this is the narrative she consumes, no wonder she talks back.” I muttered, setting the novel down then reached for the stack beneath it. It was a leather bound journal which was worn slightly at the edges from use. I hesitated as personal journals were boundaries but curiosity has always been my flaw.

The fact that there are many books in this library, I can say that he just randomly asked books to fill this place… “D. M" Hmm? That is the letter that is written in every last part of the page. It was cursive. “Should I… read this?” I was hesitant whether or not I should read this journal bit then… I find it hard to put it back.
