Edith was looking for books and articles about urban legends, myths, and other supernatural things. Edith carried a stack of books in her hands. She stepped towards the table carefully as her vision was obscured by the books she was carrying. Arriving at the end of the section, Edith bumped into something hard in front of her. Daniel’s POV The library was the heart of the estate, a room of dark oak, leather-bound history, and a silence so thick it felt like it had its own pulse. I led Eden inside, my hand firm on her elbow. I could feel the tremors still vibrating through her skin, a low-frequency hum of trauma that made my own blood simmer. I sat her in the velvet wingback chair near the fireplace. She looked hauntingly small against the backdrop of ten thousand books—a slip of plum silk and raw nerves.

I quickly head out to the next shelf. I don’t know how much time has passed, but I feel exhausted. Drake plops into one of the armchairs before the fireplace, yawning. “I covered thirty shelves, and there’s no book on celestial wolves. This is not a library. It's a book town!” He rests his chin on his arm. “It's so huge that I might find aliens hiding somewhere.” “Stop with the excuses.
