Books Read By Julia Whelan Novels & Stories

Heaving a long and drawn-out sigh, Julie lifted her face and her eyes swept through the large library. The five books she had chosen were unexpectedly all about the Aliens' empire's history. She would love to delve more into their history as she was curious to know, but at that moment, her curiosity about her husband's past was way stronger that she had actually wished she could just find a book personally dedicated just about him. Julie thought that if there ever was a book that contained the details of Alex's secrets and of his past, the book should be looking like… her eyes just wandered around for minutes as if she were looking for something.

Her wedding ring was gone, replaced by a cheap silver band she’d bought at a gas station. "You’re staring at the wall again, Claire." Elena jumped, her hand instinctively flying to her stomach. Julian stood by the history stacks, looking entirely out of place in his tailored wool coat. "You shouldn't come here," Elena whispered, her voice trembling. "People talk in this town. A man like you—you look like trouble." Julian pulled a book from the shelf—The History of Maritime Disasters—and flipped through it without looking at her. "I am trouble. But I’m also the only reason you aren't a headline in the city. How is the head?"

Slowly, I raised my head up and saw Julia and Gwendolyn standing with their arms folded. I closed the book and removed the earphones from my ears. "Hi?" That came out as a question because I was confused about their presence here. "She said "hi"." Julia said and both of them snickered. I frowned slightly with my brows furrowed. What's the problem? I wondered. Julia bent to my eye level and snatched the book from my hand, and pretended to go through the book. "A werewolf romance? Girl, ewww! You're so fucking gross." She said, with her face contorted in a disgusting expression.

The closet was absolutely rammed with dresses, some she had clearly purchased for future Luna status and never worn but above there was storage space for shoeboxes which drew my eye. I nodded to Ivan, “I think we should check the shoeboxes” and he grunted and started pulling them down, dozens of boxes yielding nothing but shoes until finally a clunking sound made his eyes widen. Opening the box there were three small leather books and something heavy wrapped in blue cloth. “Helena…” Ivan managed to whisper, “how did we not know?” “She must have been so unhappy” as I flicked through the pages, love notes and pressed flowers spilling out of the pages. Phrases leapt out at me from the pages.

I missed my mate, my freedom, my friends, Kailin, and everyone at the vineyards. I watched a series about a group of delinquent kids born in space and dropped to Earth to see if the air was already breathable. I finished Episode twelve, and when a particular character pissed me off, I turned it off and went to read something in the study. There were some fiction books, but primarily old books from Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, and Herman Melville. There were self-help and meditation books and a book about mystical creatures. I walked out of the study. If she allowed me to read a book about witchcraft, it might interest me, but that would be as dangerous as walking into the darkness without

After saying her prayers, she left the window side and tried reading some books to shift her mind off everything going on at that moment. She opened the drawer of the bedside table, and took out a book titled 'The Ascendants Of The White Phoenix.' It was a book about the creation of the white phoenix pack and the past Alphas who had ruled the pack. Vanessa was so invested in the book that it made her eyes glued to the pages of the book for hours.

“Pretty please, brother mine?” Snorting, Liam returned his gaze to his book. “No.” “Come on, Li!” Jules moved closer. “What are you reading? I didn’t know you read.” He earned an elbow to his side for his teasing. Was Liam blushing? “Are you blushing? What is this book?” Jules grabbed the book and looked at the cover before Liam could stop him. He laughed when he saw the title. “The Peerage of the Pelugian High Society?”

Her wolf curled in her mind, restless, protective, and eager. We have survived the storm tonight, Elara purred. And tomorrow…we strike silently, cleverly, with patience. Julia's fingers brushed against the cold sheets. We endure. We observe. And when the time comes… Her golden eyes flicked toward the doorway, where Alan had stood like a shadow. Amber eyes burning with fury, obsession, and a pull she could feel even now. We will rise, she whispered. And when we do…everything will change. The night was long, the manor quiet, but inside Julia Rowan, the fire of defiance had only grown brighter.

A small smile tugged at her lips as she got up and walked over. Running her fingers along the spines, she realized with surprise that they were all romance novels. For a moment, she wondered why Liam had chosen romance for her? She had expected mysteries or something darker. After scanning the titles, her hand paused on one. She pulled it out gently. Whispers of the Forgotten Moon by Evelyn Hart. Carrying it back to the bed, she curled up against the pillows and opened the book. Caleb stepped out of the car as he quickly opened the door for Liam, who came out and strode past him without sparing a glance, as he walked straight into the house.

Elowyn scoffs, steps forward, and hurls a thick leather folder directly at Julia's chest—the exact file containing every dark secret Lucan's spies had unburied. Julia opens the parchment with trembling hands. Before her eyes can finish the first two pages, her scent turns entirely sour with fear, and her face drains of color. She stares at Elowyn in absolute astonishment, unable to comprehend how a human's pack could unearth her blood-crimes so swiftly. Arranging carriage accidents for rival bards, selling royal secrets to rogue packs... every single dirty transaction is written in permanent black ink. If these scrolls reach the High Alpha Council, her skin will be flayed from her bones.
