And delicious. Maybe it was deliciously delirious. Sasha was still whispering to herself when she realized she was no longer in the barn. She blinked, drinking in the details of her surroundings: the glass ceiling, the lavish bed, and the roaring fireplace. Indeed, Fire Moon Pack may be the Pack of Flames but they were situated near the Verdean Forest, the very heart of coldness in all of Westfall. That’s why their pack is cold too, even when winter is now leaving. Perhaps the chilling secrets of the mysterious forest has stretched itself as far as their packlands, dropping the temperature into a cold that can make anyone immensely shiver.

My favourite dangerous place. Greg points at me, knowing what I am like in this place. “Fifteen minutes.” I grin if that's how he wants to play it. Oh, baby, challenge accepted. We wander through the shops. I drift toward the books immediately. I need my on-flight reading material. After standing and staring for longer than necessary, I pick up West of Forever by Corinne Michaels. Greg appears beside me, holding a magazine. “Found mine.” I look at the magazine and tsk to myself. Of course, Greg would want this reading material. “Just MotoX?”

Every touch, every kiss, every time I should have told him I loved him. Eventually, I fell asleep. I woke up with another headache, took more ibuprofen, and fell back to sleep. It was three in the afternoon before I crawled out from under the covers. I got online and looked for a plane ticket. I booked a flight out of Morgantown. It cost a small fortune because of the short notice. I called a cab to drop me at the airport and left West Virginia and Colt Ohio behind.

I head over to my room with my food in hand, and I fish out my laptop to try watching a random N*****x series to distract myself. This strategy works really well as I'm not even half way done with my food when my eyelids grow heavy. I force the rest of the food down and do some quick tidy up before finding my way back to my bed again. *************** The cabin walls are alive around me, swelling with the warmth of the fire that crackles low in the hearth. I look about my surroundings, feeling like I've seen this place before. It's decor is warm and somewhere around, I hear the gentle coo of a baby. I follow the sounds, only to come to the living area where a little baby girl is nestled again

“Shepherdstown, West Virginia.” Christian chuckled. “Is that the best they could do? At least Villisca had an ax murderer. Shepherdstown is just fake scary.” Shrugging, Aaron said, “I’m not sure why they picked that location, but it works for me. It’s small enough we should be able to handle it, and it’s close enough to some of the major cities on the east coast, we can get a decent amount of people there to handle keeping everyone under control.” “But we’re going, too, right?”

“That’s exactly what your grandmother used to say at your age.” I wandered farther between the narrow shelves mostly to escape the public humiliation, while Harmony disappeared toward the romance section making loud, dramatic noises about enemies-to-lovers tropes. The bookstore glowed softly beneath the low hanging lights while the snow drifted in thick waves outside the front windows facing Main Street. I paused near the folklore section automatically, my fingers tracing the bindings. Appalachian legends, mountain myths, and local history books lined the dark wood. One specific title caught my eye immediately: The Founding Families of Black Hollow.

I preferred to remain silent and I let my gaze wander outside the window to stare at the beautiful landscape. An hour later, we were now driving through a town in West Virginia where a large number of the buildings are built with red bricks. We mainly drove on the interstate up until now, I had a feeling we were approaching the end of our journey. Jonas makes a right turn onto a curve that hearts up to the mountains. A typical wolf habitat. I stare out of the windows at the leaves that were a mix of orange and red color. Everything in this town seemed to have one of the two colors which seemed weird.

It was her way of telling her to shut up because I was not her type. “That obvious, huh?” “Clyve is our guest at the cabin.” “Yeah, that’s right. I’m their guest.” “She never brought someone around. Except for Keene. So, Clyve, how’s your stay so far, honey?” “Great. Looking forward to exploring more of the secrets of this town.” My way of referring Westley as the town. I left them when they started babbling something I could not quite grab on. “You work here, Westley?” I sauntered to the fiction section, pulling out a book by a best-selling mystery/thriller author from the shelf.

Places from Appalachia to Bihar, from Patagonia to Uganda, where digital literacy was low or mistrust high. They booked flights within the month: Amina leading southern Morocco, Raven to Sri Lanka, Elise to Peru, Sophia to Appalachia. Grace, a trusted organizer from Geneva, would coordinate logistics. --- Weeks later, Sophia landed in Charleston, West Virginia. The air smelled of coal dust and pine. The Appalachian landscape rolled past in lush green hills dotted with homesteads and abandoned rail beds. She found her hosts at a volunteer-run public library. Inside, a gritty group of locals: miners, displaced millworkers, Amish offspring with solar panels, homeschooling families injured by mi
