I had never imagined Chad would be such a jerk. When Chad and his friend laughed at Annika, I was indignant. I rushed over to cover his mouth, not realizing how pale Annika looked. Only if he hadn't compelled her to sleep with him, he could have been the perfect partner for her—a man as powerful and sensible as him could protect her from every harm, keep her safe in his arms, and comfort her when she was all by herself—yet he ended up being the one who destroyed her. Devoid her of everything. Lust and vengeance mercilessly crushed whatever soft feelings he had for her in his heart.

No. This is a story about misunderstood criminals. A villain is only a villain because they haven't had a chance to tell their story. A hero must win every time. But the villain only must win once. When we're kids, we idolise heroes. When you grow up though, you understand the villains. So no, there are no heroes in this story, only villains. It's not a story of good and bad. It's a story of only the bad, about that little psychotic part of everyone. About that little evil everyone has in them, it's about the demons that everyone has.

Just as the commoner wasn't born with a low status by committing a sin. So, it's really sickening how the rich abuse their power like that. "Nonsense," the baron huffed in anger. "Grab him, we need to teach him a lesson," he instructed one of his knights. I scrunch my nose in displeasure. I didn’t know why the dark sides of the world were unfolding right before my eyes. I’m not the female lead, I’m the villainess… Shouldn’t this kind of situation unfold only in front of the kind, positive, and meddlesome heroine?

Fantasy. I can fantasize all day long about having a big strong man, sweep me off my feet. Love, honor and cherish me and my kids till our last days. But there is just no way that is real. Plus, this particular book reminds me of my life with my ex husband. The villain vampire Samael.. Manipulative, controlling, excessive, and has a temper. Talon. Always reminded me of Samael. He was mean. Degrading. Abusive. Manipulative. And most importantly evil.

“Sorry for worrying you.” I couldn’t have found myself in a worse situation and I was silently cursing myself for ever picking up one of these trashy books. Reading about the abused slave girl and actually seeing it for myself was something I hadn’t mentally prepared myself for. I knew that sort of thing was wrong, but all of these books were the same – a female protagonist who was abused or humiliated, discarded or unwanted. It made you sympathise with them, becoming invested in their journey as they rose to power. Only... that journey was now going to lead to my own demise.
