With that flowing in my mind, I heaved a deep sigh and turned towards Blake. “Yes Dad, I found where they’re going to be.” Without saying a word, Blake turned and walked towards a shelf, he pressed a small button in the wall and the entire shelf opened up to reveal an arsenal of weapons. I gasped in shock, slowly approaching the storage. There was a collection of different guns and bullets neatly arranged on shelves. Blake grabbed a duffel bag and started picking out different guns and ammunition. “What are you doing?” I asked with concern. “What does it look like I’m doing?” He replied with a stern look.

I murmured as I walked in, my heart thumping in my chest. The office was nothing short of impressive—luxurious but not ostentatious. Dark wood paneling, a massive glass desk with sleek silver accents, a large leather chair behind it, and a towering bookshelf stocked with books and some drawers. A large sofa sat against the wall, sleek and modern, with plush cushions. A heavy iron shelf caught my eye, secured with a coded lock. “That’s where I keep my gun,” Dontrell said, catching me staring. His tone was matter-of-fact, but there was an edge to it that sent a shiver down my spine.

Nichole gave me an apologetic look even though she was hurt as well. Dumpp!! In the middle of our heated argument, we heard a loud sound which made us shriek extremely. "What the heck is this?" Natasha asked dramatically but her guts shut down when she saw Blake who threw the book on the table. "Read the book and find the details. Don't bother her again." He threw a murderous look to everyone particularly towards Natasha before made his way God knows where. "Rude much." I heard her mutter under her breath before she took the book "The Hidden Secrets" from the table and flipped the first page.

The gun was in the drawer of the living room. I pretended as if I had no idea about anything and still kept calling Brent to come out of his hiding. I then opened the drawer, took out the gun and hid it under my towel. I loudly said, “Brent, I’m going to watch my TV show. Come out when you are done with your play.”

I was pretty small so it wasn't hard for me to do it undetected, plus I wore a black night gown and not the pale blue or pink colored one other girls my age wore. I made it to my father's study and saw a trail of blood as if someone dragged somebody along the floor while he or she was bleeding. Tiptoeing to the shelf, I remembered that my father kept a weapon in here, in one of the books on the shelf. I ran my hands over the book, picked up the third one and opened it. Nestled inside it was a gun, the pages of the book had been cut out to make sure the gun was comfortable in it without bulging or drawing attention to the book.

The air inside smelled of leather, metal, and something faintly metallic. Her stomach twisted as she approached the heavy oak desk. The top drawer was locked, but the one beneath it opened. Inside lay a sleek black handgun with two spare magazines and a combat knife. She stared at them, pulse roaring in her ears. These weren’t for show. This was preparation for violence. She closed the drawer quickly and turned to the bookshelf. A worn leather album was tucked behind some files. With shaking hands, she opened it.

The faint smoke from earlier. He looked up at me. “Sit.” I sat on the arm of his chair. My thigh touched his arm. He did not move away. I looked at him. Really looked. The scar on his chest. It looked like a gun. No. Bigger. A rifle? Or something else. Something hidden.

Vincent POV Gabriel brought out guns. One after another. Handguns, mostly. Glocks, Berettas, and a SIG Sauer P226. A compact Heckler & Koch. Two revolvers, snub-nosed, the kind you keep in a nightstand or taped behind a toilet tank. A Mossberg shotgun, sawn down, that had been concealed in the false bottom of my hallway closet. A tactical rifle, broken down into components, that had been stored inside the hollow frame of my bedroom mirror.

If Elijah or Frankie find out he showed up over here it’s libel to start a whole war. Maybe I’ll just keep it to myself. I went into my bedroom and felt under my pillow.. making sure my knife was still there … just in case. Then I decided to check all my hiding spots.
