​Bettoni offered her a very small and genuinely sweet smile. ​Angelika let out a furious shriek. She stormed into the medical bay and slammed the door behind her. ​Bettoni felt a tiny spark of real victory warm her chest. She turned and walked toward the royal library. She needed to study. She needed more weapons to survive this royal war. ​The library was completely deserted. The spacious room was filled with numerous old documents and wiped books. Bettoni pulled a heavy green book titled Toxic Flora of the Northern Borders off the highest shelf. She sat at a dark oak table and opened the thick pages.

she murmured under her breath, pulling it from the shelf. The leather creaked as she opened the book. The pages were yellowed and delicate, and they carried the unmistakable weight of time. She flicked through them slowly, careful not to cause any tears. The illustrations it held were beautiful ink drawings of thick forests, full moons, animals that looked almost… too detailed. Too intelligent. Then a page stopped her. An elaborate drawing of a clearing, large, ringed by ancient trees. She squinted. It looked oddly familiar.

She stood on tiptoe, took that book off the third shelf, and seriously flipped through it. In the book, there is a photo of a man and a woman, the two of them embracing each other sweetly and closely, the blue eyes filled with the love of an extremely outstanding woman, with an extremely beautiful appearance.

Levi and Kenji let out loud spurts of laughter behind me as they watch my discomfort over the book.
