“For you.” I could hardly believe it. Flipping through the composition book, I could make out pages upon pages filled with neat handwriting, what looked like ten chapters worth of reading, and even… a couple of smutty scenes. My cheeks warmed as I flipped to a random page and read something about the dragon turning into a man, and…

“Get in a straight line facing the tree-line.” All of the guys shuffled and moved in a line as I tossed them their individual books. Slamming one into Ethan’s chest, he coughed and I flashed him a sweet smile. Kev had his own and he already knew where this was going. I had no doubt he would be the first to finish this little exercise. Taking my own book, I smiled at the Alice and Wonderland copy in my hand.

She approached it cautiously, her heart pounding with anticipation. "This book... it feels important," she said, reaching out to touch it. The moment her fingers made contact with the cover, the symbols flared to life, casting a brilliant light throughout the room. Kai, Allan, Lila, and Seraphina gathered around Alex as she carefully opened the book. The pages were filled with intricate drawings and cryptic text, written in a language none of them recognized. As they studied the book, a sense of urgency washed over them, as if the knowledge contained within was both powerful and dangerous.

The little goblin stood this way, the book held tightly in her hands, her lips moving silently. "Well?" Mike asked after nearly a minute had passed. "Tink doesn't remember." Shoulders slumping, Tink handed the book to Mike. "Maybe husband figure out?" "We'll see." Opening the book, he was surprised to see the words swim across the page, the text fixing itself in place before his eyes. Expecting some profound piece of magic, he realized he was looking at a fairly simple recipe for peanut butter cookies. Flipping back and forth, he saw that the recipe was the same on every page.

"What exactly are you looking for, or looking to find." "I don't know. The initials just called me. F.S." "That's, that's not a lot." Zoe completed like I didn't know that already. " Read the book, you haven't right?" I nodded and flipped the book open. The following pages after the dedication and first page were empty. After that, the next heading read Content with a series of smaller sentences piling up in a straight line. There were no lines on the yellowed pages, but the sentences were straight. The handwriting on its own, not so much. A few of the titles had disappeared so a the whole page didn't make a lot of sense.

As she’s about to leave the room, someone called. “Hey, I’m leaving the hotel. My car service is waiting,” she talked to the person on the other line. “I can’t wait to see you here. We’ve so much to see and talk about,” Noah said. Cela gave her room one final look. This is the place where she leaves her old self. “We wanted to go to a specific place and it didn’t matter if the road was rough and the journey was long. In the end, we found different places for ourselves but these places were the destinations where we were truly meant to go,” she said to herself. The fourth book begins at chapter 1 in Paris. He barely acknowledged her as his attention remained on me, and after a moment, he finally handed me the book. “Chapter One,” he said. “The First Shift.” I tightened my fingers around the cover. “Chapter Two. The Beast Within.” My stomach twisted. “And Chapter Three,” he continued, his expression becoming even colder, “The Alpha Bloodline.” He released the book into my hands and stepped away. “Good luck, Princess.” He walked past us, deliberately brushing against Rigina’s shoulder this time before disappearing between the shelves. Rigina turned and watched him leave, then looked back at me. “I officially hate him.”

The book was one she had been working through slowly, the kind that gave back more the slower you read it. She came across a line. She read it twice. She set the book face-down on her knee and looked at the room. The line was about the distance between knowing something and being willing to act on what you know. Said simply, without weight added to it, the way the best lines were said. She had read things like it before, filed them, moved on. This one landed differently. She sat with it. The lamp warm and the house quiet and the line just sitting in the room with her.
