There was a warrior sitting to her right and she turned to offer him a timid smile. “What is your name?” she asked softly. “I am Bram,” the man answered with a smile. “I’m Izabelle but most people call me Izzy,” she said with a soft smile. “I know. You’ve made quite the entrance in Daikon,” Bram said with a soft laugh. “I suppose you would know, wouldn’t you?” Izzy asked. “I hear your mate is a friend of mine,” Bram said with a laugh. “It is Nate from Kreil, is it not?”

I could not, would not waste this life. From the mass of hoods a figure detached and came forward. He moved without haste, every step a deliberate pronunciation of danger. When he removed the hood, the moon caught on a pale face and ice-blue eyes that seemed to have been cut from winter. A thin white scar slashed his brow like an accusation. He smiled like a man who keeps small cruelties tidy. “I am Bram,” he said, and his voice was dry as old paper. “You have a fine circle, Luna of Blackfang.”
