He could smell it in the air, see it all around him and almost taste it on his lips. After roughly two minutes, he got the reward for deciding to follow the path he had taken. The three hostels stood side by side like three giants leading a troop of soldiers to war. The buildings were misty in the distance but from where he was, he knew they were the building he and the other new intakes sought after. He had led them in the right path, he thought. James seized the opportunity. He charged forward, brandishing the branch like a spear. With a fierce yell, he swung it at the boar, striking it on the side. The animal let out a furious grunt and turned its attention fully to him, its eyes blazing with anger.

Leaf after leaf turned black before drifting silently to the ground. "What happened?" The woman knelt beside the trunk. She placed one hand upon the ancient bark. "Someone has begun erasing stories..." "...faster than new ones can be born." A distant roar echoed beyond the horizon. The white sky trembled violently. One enormous branch snapped.
