As Caleb kept swinging, the chains were finally completely shattered.

I whispered, the word breaking. I rushed to him, my hands shaking as I reached for the chains. The smoke-iron was so cold it burned my skin, the magic within it trying to drain my own life-force the moment I touched it. The chains are keyed to his essence, Luca’s memory warned.
