We had to become the ones who controlled the flow now. I could feel the weight of the task ahead. It wasn’t just about vengeance anymore. It was about dismantling an entire network, a web of lies and betrayal. And we couldn’t do it alone. "We need to reach out," Carter said, breaking my thoughts. I turned to him, meeting his gaze. "We need to find new allies. People we can trust—at least as much as we can trust anyone in this game." "Who do you have in mind?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. It wasn’t like Carter to suggest bringing in outsiders. He preferred to keep things close, private. But this time, the situation was different. We couldn’t afford to operate in isolation.

The chains were broken. Rael was free. And they still had a war to win.

He glanced at the silver cuffs. "The chains," he gritted out. "The Pack will track the silver's metallic scent. I have to break them." He shifted his hand, only his hand, into a massive, dark paw. Claws the length of my fingers extended. He slammed his hardened forearm against the chain. The sound was deafening. The chain snapped. The metallic link hit the ground with a soft tink. The intense pain from the shock was fleeting. The silver was still locked onto my wrists, but now, they were two separate shackles.

if only I could see them. I'm not sure for how long he stayed in that shower. because I still feel like I'm losing chunks of time. but his voice put me out of my trance. “By the way, did I tell you that the insides of those chains were released with wolfsbane? If you struggle to match against them then they will pierce your skin and you're going to be poisoned.’’

David growl, stomping his feet then he walked again into the control room. Diane took a deep breath trying to calm her thoughts as she rubbed the brooch gently, like stealing power from the brooch…

My thoughts were all over the place, and the more I tried to get rid of them, the more, they came back, and in full force too. The chains pulsed every few minutes, a faint shimmer of runes rippling through them. I hated to admit it, but every time I stared at it, I couldn't help but feel like they were breaking and getting weaker by the minute. I wasn't sure lf it's potency, but it seemed to be reducing rapidly and by every breath too.

Seren nods. “Let her.” “And you?” the god asks. She breathes deep. And answers without hesitation. “I choose to be remembered wrong, if it means staying true.” Silence. And then, The Chain breaks. The open link crumbles first, turning to ash. Then the others. One by one. Not shattered. Freed. No screams. No curses. Just… release. The altar dims. The molten runes go dark. The god speaks once more. And this time,

“Better by your Beast’s hand than by Ruby’s Hollowed spawn.” The air thickened. The Beast liked those words. Maxim felt it preen, stretching wider beneath his skin, as though the warband’s desperation was its worship. He closed his eyes for a moment, and in that dark he saw the chains: silver-bright, ancient, coiled tight around the monstrous shape that writhed in his soul. Every link trembled as the Beast pulled. You cannot hold me forever, it whispered, velvet and venom both. Every chain has a breaking point. Yours nears.

I admitted. “Well, let me tell you. They are metal rods that are bent and then soldered together.” She took a sip of her drink before continuing. “The weakest part of a chain link is where it is soldered, because it was never meant to be connected to itself.” She patted my arm. “The hardest part of breaking the chains that hold you back is finding what holds it together.” She gathered her trash and picked up her cup before getting out of my car. She bent down to meet my eyes. “When you are ready to break your chain, you know where to find me. The happiness you are searching for is within reach. You just need to figure out what soldered your links, and figure out the best way to open each one

A loud roar erupted from my throat as black chains burst forth from the runes, aglow with red embers. I swung the chains forward and they coiled like snakes, impaling the first two men through the chest. I yanked both chains back, and their bodies were lashed across the cathedral, crashing into pillars with a wet crunch. The others screamed, keeping on with their charge. I spun around, thrusting one hand to the left and a cascade of chains burst forth from my hand, whipping across the air. One of the men raised his shield to block them, but the chains seared through it like butter and wrapped themselves around his neck. I pulled forward and his head flew off.
