After a brief moment of astonishment, Howard said to Jude, overjoyed, "I came all the way here to see you. Since Mr. Kirk is here too, I don't need to make another trip to see him." Jude didn't like the Collins family, but he still spoke politely. "Is there anything we can do for you?" Howard started, "Jude, the Morrisons are one of the big four families, but our family isn't small either. Brie has become a laughingstock because of Mr. Kirk. “But I don’t know if that’s because he’s telling the truth, or because I’m so desperate to have a family that I’m willing to be stupid.” Damian’s head turned toward her, eyes steady. He wanted to tell her that her new found Grand Uncle was an evil man but he didn't have enough proof yet. He also saw the look of hope in her eyes at the possibility of having a family, he didn't want to take that from her. “Wanting family isn’t stupid, Aria. It doesn’t make you weak.” She looked at him, voice barely audible. “It does feel like weakness.” “It’s human,” he countered. “They are two different things....”

“More coffee? Shotz?” “Yes, please, if you don’t mind.” I handed over my mug. Zane shook his head. “What sort of family do you have here?” he asked Shotz. “Like everybody around here, I’ve got about a hundred kin, including cousins.” He laughed uneasily. “Lots of inbreeding jokes around here.” Zane shook his head and looked both angry and sad. Travis came back with coffee. “I’ve been doing some research,” I said, which made both Zane and Travis laugh.
