We got out and halted our footsteps by the front of the car, admiring the setting sun and all the colors in the sky. "You ready?" I asked as I took the position, looking like I was about to run in a track event after the gun sounded. "Ready for what?" I looked up and informed him as if it were obvious, "We are going to chase the sunlight." Kiran looked back to the horizon and stared for a moment before laughing, "You aren't serious." "I told you I was going to show you how I have fun," I straightened to look at him in the eye before gesturing to the sun, "This is my fun."

“... it's daytime. The sunlight is burning.” What?

Naomi's POV The next morning, the sun broke in through the hospital windows like it had something to prove. It wasn't the gentle light from yesterday's golden hour, but a sharp, unapologetic kind of brightness. The kind that made you squint even with your eyes closed. Still, it wasn't unwelcome. Not today. I wanted to be a little ray of sunshine, and what better way than receiving the bright sunlight that almost blinded my eyes first? Because today was different.

Now, Lihont was the one being pushed back, his boots skidded on the stone porch, and his shadow leg began to flicker.

I perched myself up on my elbows and took in the heat of the sun as it caressed my skin and brought life to it. The creator created many wrong things in the world, mortals being one of them, but the simple sunrise and sunset that he created was probably his most majestic creation yet. A simple sunrise brought not only the dawn of a new day but it brought new beginnings and a fresh start to those who hadn't seen any hope in a long time.
