For the first time, I didn't see emptiness, I saw possibility. I went to the window and let the sunlight caress my face. I placed my trembling hand on the glass, and although the pain was still there, I no longer saw it as a curse. It was a reminder of survival, of battles fought and won. My hands might never be the same again, but my spirit wasn't broken. I was still Sofia, and I still had something to offer.

The days drag on, each one longer and more torturous than the last. I've completely lost track of time; without a clock or any reference, the only way to measure the hours is by watching the small gaps in the boarded-up windows, through which the sunlight enters and leaves, tracing a cycle of light and darkness. Five times I've seen the sun rise and disappear again, and with that, I conclude that I've been trapped in this hell for five days.

--- Six Months Later The day unfolded with the kind of beauty that seemed almost unreal. The sky stretched above, and the sunlight cast a golden glow, enveloping everything in its warm embrace, infusing the world with a radiant glow that made even the simplest sights appear enchanting. There was a gentle breeze that danced through the air, carrying with it the sweet scent of blooming flowers.

Dylan tried to explain himself softly, as if he were trying to coax a pup. "When she's gone, I'll come back. We'll have the bonding ceremony, just like we planned. We're true mates. Our wolves get on so well. They're inseparable."

I walked into the dark room that once belonged to me. All the thick curtains were let loose, allowing little to no sunshine penetrate into the room. I navigated carefully through the room I spent all 21 years of my life and got to a window. I pulled the window opened and smiled at the scene I got to see every morning. I hated the curtains being opened but never actually attempted to close it, I am so happy I never closed it.

Mountain's feature softened and he was about to say something to Joseph when the girl shouted, "Incoming!" Mountain was fast. Extremely fast for a large person. He came at Joseph like a blur and tackled him to the ground. A jumbled vision of foliage and trees and bushes, before he felt himself slammed against the ground. Joseph felt the wind knocked out of him as he heard the whistle followed by the loudest sound he's ever heard in all his 16 years under the Tau Ceti sun.

Day 7 Another day. 23 days left. Patima woke up with a big grin on her face. Today is Sunday, they all plan to go to Church later, at 9 in the morning. She quickly gets up on her bed to the bathroom to brush her teeth. She then walks out of her bedroom after. She marathoned down the stairs and to the kitchen. "Patima, you look happy today" the said girl looked at the dining area and rolled her eyes.

'' she sighed, looking out the window. The only source of communication she had was the guards who regularly brought in food for her at certain intervals. Since she was a very observable person and very detailed and even without a phone, she knew the times they brought in her food. The first was usually when the sun was about to come up, the second was when the sun was high up in the sky and the third and last meal of the day was when the moon was just peeking out. Those were the only things that kept her going and Elena wished more than anything to be free from Andrea's hold.

The realm I was born in is a naturally dark one. There are only a few days a year when the sun shines. On the other days, the sun is replaced by a white or red-colored disk that illuminates our universe artificially. The color itself always depends on whether it’s hunting season or not. As soon as the sun comes out, my family is the first to go out and bathe in it, even if it weakens them. Not because they love the sun, but because showing off that they don’t turn to dust in it just gives them some sort of kick.
