He called after me, “You’ll miss me the second you step out that door.”
“I already do,” I said over my shoulder, grinning as I walked towards the bathroom. “That’s why I’m leaving.”
Isaac was waiting by the car when I came down, tall and composed as always. The air was cooler, the kind of quiet that usually came before rain.
“Morning, ma’am,” he said, opening the car door.
“Morning, Isaac. Do you have any report for me?”
He hesitated for a second, then said, “I found some similar vehicles to before parked around this apartment building. They are not posing a threat but they have been watching steadily for a while now.”
