he said slowly, “that I don’t want hostility between us every second of the day. We’re not enemies, Emily.”
I let out a short laugh—quiet, brittle. “Aren’t we?”
His jaw ticked, just once. “No.”
“You put a tracker on my phone, you….” my voice trailed off as I reminded him softly.
“And you went through my journals,” he shot back, his voice calm but edged. “We both crossed lines.”
