Chapter Five Marguerite “Merry Christmas,” I muttered, wiping off nonexistent dust from my shirt. “Say it like you mean it.” Vinn made a face. “Do you want me to pick you up after school? We could spend Christmas together if you don’t have plans.” Vinn suggested as he dropped me off right in front of our school gate. He casually leaned on his baby—the Kawasaki ZX10R SE. It was Christmas Day. Fucking Christmas Day and our professors who weren’t loved at home, set the day for classes.

~ a few weeks before X-mas~ Billie's POV: I can't believe that in a few short weeks it will be Christmas. The holidays have me thinking about all of the orphaned pups that have joined the packs. None of them have any family left to care for them or see them on the holidays. So with that in mind I emailed the other two packs to bring all of their orphaned pups and childless couples with them today. All of the Alpha's agreed to it very quickly deciding this would be the best Christmas gift to all.

’ Her mouth watered at the thought of the spicy and aromatic gumbo. ‘I remember gathering around the long, big dining table with the staff and the other kids on Christmas,’ Callie said wistfully. ‘We’d share stories, pass around big bowls of gumbo and compare our gifts, even though almost everybody ended up with the same thing—old dolls for the girls and tiny toy cars for the boys, donated by kind-hearted strangers every year.’ ‘It sounds like a wonderful tradition,’ Elias remarked. ‘It was,’ Callie agreed, her heart swelling with cherished memories. ‘Which is why I always associate the spicy taste of shrimp gumbo with Christmas instead of the usual, you know, turkey or goose.’

Arthur and I join the others in the living room, where a beautiful Christmas tree stands, twinkling with lights and ornaments. We gather around, everyone smiling and chatting, waiting for the clock to strike twelve. There’s a sense of anticipation, and I can feel Arthur’s hand tighten around mine. Finally, the clock strikes midnight, and a cheer goes up. “Merry Christmas!” everyone calls out, exchanging hugs and kisses. Gifts are passed around, and the room fills with laughter and joy. After the gifts are exchanged, we all raise our glasses for a toast. Arthur’s father, a kind man with a twinkle in his eye, leads the toast.

Instead of watching what's on the huge screen in his mini cinema, I was watching him eating me the entire time. "Everything's good for tomorrow?" I divert the topic before he lets out any lame lines to get into my pants, not that he even needed one. "Yup, can't wait to be Gil." I laugh imagining how it's gonna be tomorrow for Pao's 4th birthday party. She's adamant about having Bubble Guppies as the theme this year, which suits the weather because it's summer, but Owen was a bit reluctant when she asked him to dress as Gil, since she's gonna be Molly.

Prissy looked up at her as if wondering what she was talking about. "Yes, I guess I talk to you all the time, so you have no idea what I'm talking about." Kiki let out a deep breath as she stroked her fur. "Okay. Enough of that." Prissy looked at her as if she had lost her mind. "Today's Christmas Eve! We have to celebrate!" Kiki dressed quickly in her jeans and an oversized sweater, still in her socks, and headed out to the living room.

"Thank you." "You're welcome. This," Adam held out the hatbox, "is your Christmas gift; I want you to open it now." I raised my eyebrows and put the coffee and food on the coffee table. I gently took the hatbox from Adam and sat on the couch. The box was navy blue and tied with a white ribbon. I undid the ribbon and took off the lid. My jaw dropped as I was in complete awe at what was inside. "A puppy!" I reached into the box and took out the tiny animal. It was a Morky with silky black fur and brown eyes. He looked only a few months old. I faced him toward me, and he immediately started licking my face.

Judy whispered, like she was afraid her joy might scare Malaya away. Malaya's smile was smaller this time—still shy, but real. "Merry Christmas, Grandma Judy." Judy's hand flew to her mouth. Tears spilled without permission. "Merry Christmas, sweetheart," she breathed. "Oh… thank you for calling me." Jerry leaned into view, impatience playful. "And what about me, huh?" Malaya giggled. "Merry Christmas, Pawpaw." Jerry's entire face lit up. "That's my girl!"

“You should have gone for the vacation though. Christmas is always fun, with or without you.“ Rita replied as they all joined in decorating the trees. Xavier was in charge of fixing the string lights around the house as Rita baked cookies for them all. *** Mr. Anderson had called all of the kids, including Xavier for their Christmas presents. Isabella was the first to receive hers—a pink dress and a matching bow with a large teddy bear almost twice her size. She screamed aloud in excitement as she tore her package open. Bryan was the next. Xavier marveled at the spotless puppy he took out from his gift box. He thanked his father as the pup wiggled its tail at Xavier, who admired its cuteness

"Come on, of course he won't. He's not a beast. Well, technically he is...but you get the point." "Whatever. I guess it makes sense why his name is Lupus now." We got home after a little while. We immediately went back to bed. * Lupus woke me up again when he went to puke again. I guess the charcoal has started working. That's a relief. I just hope it's enough to stop the poisoning. We went downstairs after getting ready. I can already hear the soft Christmas music playing from the stairs. "Merry Christmas!" Mom exclaimed excitedly while hugging me and Lupus. The decorations are already up. We did wake up late afterall.
