“Yeah, yeah I am fine. Just…thinking, that’s all.” “Why do you keep rubbing at your chest? Did you get hurt out there too?” His question had everyone in the room turning towards me. I didn’t even notice until he pointed it out, that I had been rubbing at my chest. “Nah man. I am good. Just feeling a little tight, I guess.” I respond. I don’t really know how to explain this sensation that I have been feeling for the last hour or so, it’s like a line is being pulled tight in my heart. I reach up and rub again, right as the Doc walks in.

Why did I immediately trust your words and promises? Still holding my chest, I could not properly breathe anymore. It felt like my throat began to constrict, and my heart was beating so fast. It was as if, at any rate, I would be experiencing a heart attack, although I didn’t have any heart disease. I was still sobbing inside the restroom when someone suddenly knocked on the door.

 Heat spread slowly across my breasts, deep and throbbing, like something inside me was waking up.  “What…” I whispered to the empty room.  I sat up slowly.  The pressure increased.  A strange, almost pulling sensation.  Instinctive.  Needy.  My heart began to beat faster.  I pressed a hand cautiously over my chest — and froze.  They felt fuller.  Heavier.  Swollen.  Panic flickered through me.  I threw the blankets aside and rushed toward the bathing chamber, my steps uneven.  Maybe I was imagining it.

I felt a lump forming in my chest, and my breathing grew shallow. Oh shit! I should have told Iris or anyone where I was going, perhaps borrow a cellphone. My heart was pounding in my ears, and I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck standing. I felt a sense of panic rising within me, and my body began to slightly tremble. I tried to take a deep breath, but the air felt thick and heavy.

It was as if the world around me had shifted ever so slightly, sending ripples of confusion through my senses. I took a deep breath, attempting to calm the rising tide of apprehension within me. But as I exhaled, a slight twinge of discomfort gripped my stomach, causing my brows to furrow in concern. It was a mild ache, like a distant echo, yet persistent enough to demand my attention. I instinctively placed a hand on my abdomen, hoping to alleviate the discomfort, but it lingered, refusing to subside.

Coughing bloodily, her eyes still closed, she could feel her body temperature getting high, as every part of her was burning hot. Her lips quivered, and her teeths were chattering due to the cold, she still felt hot all over. Her chest hurt badly, as there was a steady drumming sound between her breasts, and a reverberation of agonizing pain upward till her collarbone, and it felt like her bones were breaking in pieces. Below the beating in her chest, there was a thick, spikelike pressure that was driving down to her belly, her as her freed hand clutched her stomach tightly.

I woke up with a strange tightness in my chest. It was not fear, but it was close. It felt like my heart was standing in the middle of a long road, one side pulling me forward, the other dragging me back. I lay there for a while, staring at the ceiling, trying to shake off the feeling, but it stayed. It sat heavy on my chest like a hand that would not move.

Walking out, I opened the second door, and it was the bathroom. There was a double shower and also an enormous bath, which I was sure must be a spa as well. I turned the taps on the bath, when I got a sudden pain in my chest. It was only dull at first, more annoying than anything. Ignoring it at first. It came back as I stepped into the bath. I hunched over, grabbing my chest. It was so hard to breathe. What was happening? “Bria, what is that?”

I become distracted that I fail to notice their leader behind me. Sudden pain takes over my chest as if a knife is stabbed deep into it. As if someone is clutching my beating heart. I cannot breathe. I struggle but the feeling of blood pouring out my chest makes me unable to do anything. I fall to my knees mouth wide open tears streaming down my face. The sickening pain overtaking my senses. Placing my palm over my chest I seek my blood.

My breathing was unstable, heart pounding against my ribs like it was trying to break out of my chest. If this kept happening I was really going to die.
