Chapter Fourteen Elena’s POV The gunshot cracked like thunder. I flinched so hard I thought my heart had stopped. The bullet didn’t touch me, didn’t touch Sandra but it cut through the air right next to Luka’s head. Luka stumbled, his drunken arrogance faltering in an instant. His face drained pale, his hand trembling as the gun slipped from his grip. Clatter. The weapon hit the floor. Before he could even think, Spider darted forward like a shadow, scooping it up with surprising speed. He flicked the safety, eyes sharp, and tucked it behind his back.

I say and the spider starts laughing as his men look at me in shock. "I knew you were fast, but this..." He starts clapping. "What makes you think we need him? You can kill him for all we care. Your only two if you still count your boy toy against us. What are the odds of winning?" He taunts with a smirk as I glance behind at Jayden for a microsecond. He winks and I suddenly understand what he means. I look back at the Spider who takes out a gun. I let my knife slit across the man's neck just as I hear Jayden fighting off the man holding him. The men start running towards me as the Spider talks something hastily into his earpiece.

That's why spiderman got the superpower, right? "Ugh, just stay alive, if I get a chance to go home I'll take you back and raise you, promise not to send you to be sliced up." Ethan Brooks muttered in a small voice as he pointed at the ants, he just thought of them as his pets for now.After all, little better than nothing.

Spider shouted. Gunfire erupted. The first bullets slammed into the rear of Sarah’s car, metal screaming under the impact. Sarah screamed, ducking instinctively as Scorpion swerved, gripping the wheel with brutal force. “Stay down!” Scorpion barked. Spider didn’t hesitate. He rolled down the window just enough, bracing himself as the pursuing SUV closed in. Muzzle flashes lit up the night like brief bursts of lightning. Spider aimed, his breath controlled despite the chaos. Bang. One of the attackers jerked violently, his head snapping back as the bullet found its mark. His body slumped, lifeless, collapsing inside the pursuing vehicle.

Jeff scanned their faces. “Jeff.” Kevin made his way to his son’s side and viewed the lifeless bodies. “What have you done?” While his father spoke from what seemed like miles away, Jeff replayed Mr. Drake’s final word. He hadn’t understood at first but was now transported back to the teacher’s lecture: ‘Many spiders have spinnerets that aid in putting out silk for their webs.’ Everything came into focus like someone adjusted the ring on a pair of binoculars. He met his father’s eyes. “You should run.”

"I have to hack the console." She ran to a panel on the wall. A mini-game popped up on her screen—a complex puzzle of matching symbols and rerouting power flow. "Cover me," Jinx said. "Spiders incoming." From the ceiling vents, mechanical spiders dropped down. They were small, fast, and exploded on contact. "I hate spiders!" Tank roared. He deployed his Riot Shield, creating a dome of blue energy around Jinx. The spiders swarmed the shield, exploding in puffs of green smoke. Boom. Boom. Boom.

][ ACTIVATING DEFENSE PROTOCOL. From the shadows of the server racks, droids emerged. Not the clumsy security bots. These were Spider-Tanks. Fast, agile, with machine guns mounted on their backs. "Jack! Hold them off!" Sebastian yelled. "Kenji! Jack in! Kill the upload!" Jack dropped the plushie. He pulled out a grenade launcher (hidden inside the plushie).THUMP. The first grenade hit a Spider-Tank. BOOM. "Eat this, you metal crabs!"

He explained. Kael gave a soft scoff, the kind only a ten-year-old boy could manage. “Batman’s cool. But Ironman is better. And Spider-Man too. At least Spider-Man has real web-shooters.” He muttered, loosening his tight grip on her hand. Okay, that was a sign that he was starting to relax, Laurel thought. Nolan laughed, a rich sound that made the air feel lighter. “You’ve got a good taste, kid.” He mumbled.

Was this creature really invincible? By this point, the spider had gotten fed up with Walter’s attacks! With that, it took aim at Walter’s chest before simultaneously launching its corpse flame, web, and pincers! Naturally, the now flustered Walter immediately tried to dodge the attack. Unfortunately, he ended up getting slammed by one of the beast’s pincers, resulting in the middle-aged man getting flung against a wall! The impact was so great that there was now a crater where Walter had collided!

“Huh?” “Whatever little relationship has you smiling like that is over.” I shook my head in disbelief. “I have the right to smile if it’s not about you. Get over yourself.” I didn’t want him to run a background check on Spider yet so I added, “Just so you know, Spider is a literal kid.”
