She nodded and gave a faint smile, but I could see the doubt in her eyes. We made our way toward the petting zoo, where the kids were already at the enclosure, watching the rabbits hop around excitedly. Roxy and Jared stood at the front, gripping the fence as they pointed at the little brown bunnies. “I wanna hold one,” Roxy declared. “I think they’re shy,” Jared said thoughtfully.

Their words really touched me, I felt more confident and ended up telling them about my dream. As I spoke, I noticed Selene and Zara exchange a meaningful glance. Their eyes showed a mix of excitement and worry, which made me stop. “What's going on?” I inquired. “Do you know anything about what's happening to me?” Before they could answer, a loud group of howls came from the woods. The full moon run was beginning. “We should join the pack,” Zara said, a bit too quickly. While we hurried to catch up with the rest, I couldn't help but think they were keeping something from me. Yet, the excitement of the upcoming run distracted me from those worries.

I can't show myself thinking that this is a trap for me, for us. I remained hiding until she stood up, and I am right, it was her pet in her lap, a white bunny. I was looking at it while wandering around then I gasped when I saw it looking at me. I bit my lips, there is something in its eyes that I can not explain. It was just there, not moving while still staring at my eyes. Does that bunny see me?

Jenna fumes and starts to walk away, but as soon as she touches the doorknob, all hell breaks loose. "HEYYAAAAAAA!" I hear a high-pitched yell followed by a big, thudding noise. I don't even have time to feel confused as the door explodes, sending Jenna flying across the room. "What the-..." my words don't escape my mouth. I try to comprehend what I am witnessing in front of me. A giant bunny stands before me, if you can even call that a bunny! He has bunny ears, alright. But he is also enormous with razor-sharp teeth. And on his back, there sits Laura, like a queen doing horseback riding.

It is a beautiful amber, almost topaz in color, something one can get lost in without fuss. I am vaguely aware of how close she keeps getting and I feel no sense of danger from her still content in just watching her eyes. She licks me. She licks my face. “Mama Hazel, Bunny needs a hug!” Each request was met with a gentle smile and a playful response. Mama Hazel was a master of the art of pretend, her ability to weave stories and create worlds out of simple objects a testament to her boundless creativity and her deep understanding of the child’s world. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the room, Theo, his eyes heavy with sleep, snuggled into Mama Hazel’s lap. He clutched Bunny close, his tiny fingers tracing the soft fur.
