The paper turned into barely crumpled, and there was no name on the front. She tore it open, her arms trembling. "Meet me the following day at night at the antique church. I recognize how that will help you – A buddy." Jenny’s breath caught in her throat. Who should this be? No one knew she had returned to Noah’s mansion besides Lewis, and he could have never risked sending a letter like this. MaryAnne leaned closer. “Do you think it's miles safe?” Jenny swallowed tough. “I do not realize. But I should discover.”

” He asked, and I watched the candlelight flare brightly again just for a second as Nikkie pushed another dust-coated paper into it. “Perhaps it would be a good outlet for my frustration. " Burn the damn book that gave me high hopes.” I said, getting up from my seat, striding over to him. I ripped up a little of the silver and gold book’s uselessly blank pages, and was about to feed it into the fire when Nikkie stopped me. “What? " It's useless anyway.” I snapped, but he held my hand, and pried the piece of paper out of it. He didn't say anything, but simply held it as close to the fire as it could get without going up in flames.

The only thing that I could read was this one paragraph on the torn page I’m holding. I snorted, this is stupid. I’m thinking too much about this. It wasn’t like I was meant to read this one paragraph. It could have been a coincidence. This isn’t a storybook after all. I shook my head in disbelief and continued to tear up pages after pages of the book. Popping the lighter open, I lit the now crumpled paper and placed the wood on it slowly so as not to put it out, blowing air on it occasionally to keep the fire pumping.

😭* Authors note- And that’s it for the book fourteen year old me was so excited to write 😂 yes, I first had the idea of this book at fourteen after reading this corny romance book on w*****d and I was like “wait…what If we switch it and the girl is actually the rich sassy one ?” I do feel like I let a lot of my readers down consistency wise as I wasn’t consistent on updating but there’s a perfect explanation..

If she saw me zoning out one more time, she’d definitely start bugging me. We kept walking, and Veronica was her usual chatty self, typical Veronica, always rambling about milk tea and romance novels. She can stay up all night reading those love stories, but when it comes to our class textbooks? She’s already yawning by the first page. We were already inside the milk tea shop, I had my drink in hand, but Veronica was still at the counter, arguing with the server about the quality of the sugar used. A few more minutes passed before she finally wrapped things up and marched straight over to the table where I was sitting.

"I'll dig another chamber nearby, bigger than this one. We'll plant crops underground. With the sunlight we channel in and the water supply, the heat during the apocalypse will actually help things grow. We just need a month of food stored up until the crops start coming in." We divided up the work and got everything ready just in time. Tomorrow, the heatwave apocalypse would arrive. That night, I curled up on the big bed in the cellar, holding Blazewing close while waiting for the apocalypse to begin. When I woke up the next morning, I could already feel the difference. And once we were done, and I pulled her into my arms as I waited for her to rest so I could go for another round, I felt my father nudging my mindlink. ‘Rowan…’ I groaned internally. I didn’t want anyone to disturb my time with my mate, but since he was mindlinking me just after we had our talk, I figured it could be something serious. So I answered, ‘Yes, Dad.’ ‘I had called my friends to check for that book like we discussed, and they just got back to me,’ he said. ‘Well, the same part of the book was also burnt in each book. And I’m guessing it’s the same with the books in other packs.’

The warmth from the fire didn't really ease the uneasy feeling growing inside me. Taking a deep breath, I opened the book. Each page turn felt like stepping back into a past I wanted to forget. The flames continued to dance, casting a flickering light that seemed to play along with the emotions swirling within me. I turned another page, the words becoming guides through a landscape of recovery I wasn't sure I was ready to navigate. Memories, like shadows, crept in as the fire crackled. Each sentence seemed to awaken echoes of my own experiences. It was as if the library held its breath, waiting for me to absorb the weight of those stories and somehow find my own path within them.

I have so much going on that my mental state is a mess and I can't seem to focus or do anything for that matter. I love this book and I have great ideas for it, but with my current burnout I'm afraid that I'll ruin it. l already feel it's not flowing like it was supposed to. It won't be fair to you or the book not to give it my all or just write for the sake of writing. Please understand that I'm not abandoning or giving up on the book, I just need a bit of time to sort out my head before I can go back to writing. You deserve an awesome story and I would be disappointed in myself if I didn't give you that.
