Felen asked warily. “That butterflies...” Leon pointed at the black butterfly with blue wings that had been flying around her. “They are the inhabitant of the Forest of Wonders — Ancient Magical Beasts and it seems those creatures quite liked you.” Felen glanced at the group of butterflies. At first, they troubled her, but now she quite got used to it. They didn’t interfere in her activities. “Those butterflies may look harmless, but you’d better be careful.” The serious tone in his words and eyes made it difficult for her to swallow her saliva. Anxiety took over her. “What’s wrong with them?” She asked in a choked voice.

I stared at their fragile beauty, suspended midair, lighting up the rotting stone walls and crumbling arches. “Wait,” I said suddenly, my brow furrowing. “They look like fireflies.” “They’re not.” Bryan stopped in his tracks and turned back to me. “They’re souls.” I blinked. “What?” “Souls of butterflies,” he said. “Cursed to remain. Do you think butterflies naturally glow like that?” I stared longer. Their wings shimmered, but their bodies held no life—just hollow, glowing husks. My stomach twisted. “That’s… disturbing.”

“We’ve still got a job to do.” “Oh!” I say, sufficiently reminded, tearing my eyes from all the fascinating sights around me. “Yes.” I give Faiza a little glare that makes her laugh before I lift my hand again, calling up another blue butterfly. I again raise my hand high into the air, watching as the butterfly alights and takes off – But to my dismay, as soon as it starts to fly, about twenty other identical blue butterflies appear in the air around it, all scattering in twenty different directions. “Oh, god damn it!” I growl, stepping frantically forward, whipping my head around, trying to figure out which one was mine.
