I bite out.
“Bit of both,” he says. “Grab instead of punch this time. See what happens.”
I lunge for his shirt.
He flows around me, hands landing on my shoulders. A heartbeat later, I’m face‑down in the dirt, arm twisted behind my back.
“Ow,” I wheeze.
“Lesson one,” Cassian says brightly above me. “Never stand still. You freeze, you die.”
He lets me go and steps back.
I roll onto my back, staring up at the sky for a second, catching my breath. The ghost of the moon stares down.
