Lila I clenched the small slip of paper in my hands, scanning the name printed there. It wasn’t the Lycan King’s insignia. Relief flooded through me, but only for a second. My opponent was a girl I barely knew, Cassidy, quiet and unassuming. One of the few who had stayed out of the constant scheming and backstabbing among the other candidates. That didn’t mean she was weak. If anything, those who hid in the background often had the most to prove. Or hide.

"I knocked twice, miss Caitlyn," She said as she walked in and stood before Caitlyn whose head was bowed. "Miss Caitlyn?" The lady called, raising her voice a little higher. Caitlyn slowly raised her head to reveal a face stained with tears that were still pouring. The lady gasped. "What's the matter, miss Caitlyn?" She was indeed surprised to see Caitlyn in such a condition. The first and only time she saw her cry was when her mother died.

In order to save Scarlet, Caitlin had to die. No sooner had she come to the conclusion than the world began to swirl around her. Like a vortex, the colors of the library merged and faded away. Caitlin felt sick and tried to hold onto the floor, feeling as though the world were spinning so fast she would surely fly off. Then the spinning stopped. He took a running start and soon he was flying, all by himself, deeper and deeper into the night. Caitlin, wielding the sword, ran through the corridors beneath City Hall.
