Getting Lucky

The receptionist at Ryan’s firm and I knew each other in passing from previous times I’d come here, just like my receptionist knew him. She called up to Ryan without giving me the usual spiel about an appointment, and Ryan entered the lobby a few minutes later.
He grinned when he saw me, gripping my hand in a firm shake. “Kaden, what are you doing here on a Tuesday morning?”
I shrugged, running my hand through my hair and giving him a mischievous grin. “Haven’t you heard? The cool kids don’t work on Tuesdays anymore.”
