The ride is agonizingly slow as we all sit in silence. My phone buzzes in my lap; the sound shrill in the quiet vehicle. I turn the screen from my thighs to find Audrey’s name blinking with a text. Sparing a side glance toward Dan, I find his eyes dutifully on the road, but I angle the phone away anyway, so he can't see. Audrey: So? What did you decide? Kat: You gave me tequila, I'm not sure I could not if I wanted to.

It doesn’t add up. “Anyway,” Callum continues, “I waited for her to change her mind, but she never did. She was stuck in her decision. So, I moved on. Me and Lilly have always been close, you know that. But it was never anything more. Then, one night... it just happened between us. I thought about telling Sasha, but she was still on her whole ‘nothing happened, we don’t need to talk’ bullshit. Then she comes here, sees Lilly answer the door, and loses her mind. "Someone wants to talk to you, and he said it's important." I looked up at her to see her walking towards me with the cordless phone in her hands. "Who is he?" “I never stopped.” The words settled between them like a vow. Jax shook his head, a mix of concern and reluctant admiration on his face. “This could explode spectacularly. You know that.” “I do.” Callum straightened his cuffs, already moving toward the door. “But doing nothing has been worse. I’m moving in this weekend. Don’t call unless it’s urgent.” “Good luck, man,” Jax called after him. “You’re going to need it when she realizes Aubrey is six-foot-two with a custom wardrobe and a habit of buying entire buildings.”

Callum and Raina’s relationship is healing, too, though it’s a slower process. They’ve been spending more time together, talking quietly when they think no one is watching. Callum’s still wary—still hurting—but I can see the way he looks at her, the way his walls are slowly coming down.

After that, Callum placed the money bouquet he had snatched back into Camryn’s arms. He said gently, “Camryn, you can continue counting the money.
