Mom Paid Their Bills, I Ended the Handouts

Mom Paid Their Bills, I Ended the Handouts

I continued, "I don't care about the two thousand dollars. If she had asked me directly to help pay for Howard's heating, I would've done it. But she lied and acted like she was completely justified." Aunt Nora had nothing left to say. She had called intending to take the moral high ground and lecture me, only to find herself on the wrong end. After a while, she paused, said a few words of concern, and hung up. … The next day after work, I stepped out of the elevator to find my mom waiting not far away. She looked disheveled, dressed in an old down jacket, her hair unkempt. Rubbing her hands together in the early winter chill, she spotted me and hurried over. Her eyes were red, and her voice

Five Years Too Late

Five Years Too Late

After the video call ended, Mom took a pen and paper from her bag. She wrote a few lines on it. "Miles, Mom is going back for now. "You've made the house far too dirty and messy. Mom will give you one month. Clean the house and yourself properly. "One month from now, Mom will come check. If your hygiene is acceptable, Mom will bring you and Grandpa to the city. "If you fail, you'll stay here and keep reforming yourself."

Mom Tried to Wife-Swap Me

Mom Tried to Wife-Swap Me

I took a breath, and typed: [Mom, where did you get this photo? "Typing..." stayed on the screen for almost a full minute. Then finally: [A friend took it. Stop asking so many questions.] I kept going. [Which friend? When was it taken? Where?] This time, she answered immediately. [Why are you so focused on that? The point is he cheated! Stop nitpicking!] She was rattled. I let out a cold laugh and switched to voice message. "Mom, I feel like I'm falling apart... What am I supposed to do..."

A Transactional Mom: I Collect Payment Ten Years Later

A Transactional Mom: I Collect Payment Ten Years Later

"Get lost! Don't dirty my car." Mom stumbled backward from the push, nearly collapsing onto the asphalt. When Arnold saw this, he didn't move to help her. Instead, he began to curse. "Useless old thing! You can't even beg for money? No dinner for you tonight!" Mom shrank back, too terrified to speak. The scene was so absurd it felt like a dream. I had assumed Mom was safe in the nursing home and that Arnold was living off his stolen spoils. It turned out that every bully eventually met their match.

The Clandestine Saga

The Clandestine Saga

“That was the funniest thing that has ever happened to us while camping.” “Yeah, Mom didn’t think so,” Delilah replied, screwing the lid back on her canteen. The woods ran up the incline and narrowed in closer to the small, quick-pitch tent they’d brought with them. Whatever was out there could just as easily stay under cover and make its way up here. She peered into the darkness between the trees but didn’t see anything.

The Hybrid Daughter

The Hybrid Daughter

I found a note also from my mother. “Molly, you slept in late darling, I have left to work at the store today, take care of yourself If you need anything, just give me a call or call Hunter. Do not forget this weekend, we are going camping with Hunter Love Mum.” I read her note, and I cannot hold my excitement! I cannot wait to go camping. I have been waiting for this moment all summer long! This is going to be so fun! I decided to go shopping for camping clothes. I walk out of my mother's house, if I am to catch a bus, I will have to walk for a while, however, I do not mind.

My Parents Left Me At The Rest Area

My Parents Left Me At The Rest Area

“Did you hear? It sounds like Myra’s cries. I heard that she’s saying it’s cold…” My father could only hug her and comfort her gently. “She’s not. You’re dreaming.” “It’s not a dream… I really heard it…” My mother mumbled. “Myra is complaining about the cold… She’s alone at the rest stop; it must be so cold…” That night repeated itself numerous times. On the next New Year’s, my family did not return to our hometown. My mother expressed that she could not bear to drive on that road and that she could not stand the sight of that rest stop anymore. She could not be in the presence of anything that would remind her of me.

Dumped at a Rest Stop In a Christmas Blizzard

Dumped at a Rest Stop In a Christmas Blizzard

"We'll be visiting the neighboring pack tomorrow, so remember to prepare a few extra gifts." "Got it." Mom came over after drying her hands. "And after that, why don't we make the trip over to the alpine hot springs? I heard it's wonderful there right now." "Sure. I'll see if I can get us a room." Mom and Dad eagerly discussed the rest of the family's Christmas plans—where to visit, what fun to have, and what to buy. I happily flitted around them, desperately wanting to tell them that I wanted to go with them, but no sound came from my parted lips.

Going Rogue

Going Rogue

Of course, as wolves we love being in nature, but this park holds special memories for me. Before my mom was killed in a rogue attack we used to come here together as a family every weekend in the summer. Hiking, camping, and having picnics were just a few of the activities we enjoyed. After my mom died, my dad shut down. Whenever I asked him if he wanted to come here, he declined. It had been years since I'd been able to visit, but as soon as I got my driver’s license, I started making my own trips up here alone. Eventuallly, I started bringing Brent along as well. I told Brent that I wanted to have our moment here because it would help me to feel like my mom was here celebrating with u

This was actually a really good book. Glad I gave it a try. She really was trying to help in her own way but some people are just so selfish. I hate that she had to go through all of that but I’m glad she got a happy ending.

Good story, different from many other stories and there was some surprises... Really a tragic story even if it ended well in the end. I did skip easy over some parts to get faster through the story, but the plot was interesting.

The Biker Alpha's Lost Mate

The Biker Alpha's Lost Mate

“They did.” We both go quiet again. The memories come easy now, like they’ve been waiting for us to let them in. Mom’s laugh, loud and bright. Dad teaching us how to shift properly. Family dinners where we argued over who got the last piece of meat. Nights when the three of us would sit on the porch and watch the stars, Mom telling stories about the old packs while Dad pretended to be annoyed but smiled every time she looked at him. Then the invasion on the camp. The way Dad shoved us toward the back door and told us to run. The way Mom kissed my forehead and said she’d be right behind us. She never was, I knew the kiss meant to take care of their only child.
